Lou pursues recreating a Burger King commercial from the 70s like a mad scientist and almost loses his mind. Adelle travels to Wisconsin for a funeral and stays in a hotel room, by herself, for the first time ever! They discuss supper clubs, pickles on burgers and listen to the grand reveal of Lou's commercial recreation, twice (the second time with live dialogue!).

The cardinals are singing in the yard and Lou and Adelle discuss their favorite bird I.D. app. Lou’s been feeling low and attempts to cheer himself up with a new Commercial Recreation, his first of the non-toy variety: an Arrid deodorant ad from 1979. Adelle shares her deodorant strategies as a solo trip to Wisconsin looms and she wishes not to offend fellow travelers.

Lou returns home from Durham and forgets to do anything (including getting a present) for Adelle's birthday. Feeling guilty and deeply ashamed for having not celebrated this important date, he responds the only way he knows how and records her a birthday song on his 4-track. Generous and forgiving as always, Adelle invites Lou to comment on the hit songs of her birth year, 1977. Wish her a proper, if belated, happy birthday: rawimpressionspodcast@gmail.com

MMM Deep Wound part 2
Having unexpectedly piqued Adelle’s curiosity with the story of his high school-era band Deep Wound in part 1, Lou continues into the band's final days and the beginnings of Dinosaur Jr. He then plays Dead Babies, from Deep Wound’s 9 song 7” e.p. (1984), solo acoustic for the first time ever.

After the nostalgic Deep Wound mini-music-Monday, Adelle and Lou find old journals and read excerpts from them. Adelle recites a poem she wrote as a 14 year old, an ode to her favorite candy, Lemon Drops. Lou reads aloud 2 dreams he had in 2002 as poems: Hollywood Carwash Sauna and James Gandolfini’s Vagina.

Lou begins the story of his first band, Deep Wound, and sings and plays Lou’s Anxiety Song (originally titled Pressures) acoustic for the first time ever. Also included an acoustic version of J Mascis’ early slow/fast hardcore epic, Psyched To Die.

They haven’t succeeded yet but Lou and Adelle are trying to make a Substack publication. Both are notoriously slow to learn anything new and Lou equates their difficulties to being deposited in a strange new world, much like the characters Marshall, Will and Holly from the 70s Saturday morning TV show Land of the Lost. He does a recreation of the show’s theme song and two jarring audio collages to illustrate this point.
