    What's the Matter, Brik? (ft. Brik.Liam) Nov 15, 2019
    Show notes

This American Negro is a podcast that aims to bridge academia and the hood. I want to host important conversations between Black people. There will be more interviews with more of a focus on academic research, but it is nice to breathe and just have a candid conversation.

Hip Hop Culture in Education (ft. ELLECT & Troy Kyles) Oct 21, 2019
    Show notes

During this episode of "This American Negro," Marquise sits down and just has a barbershop talk with him and two other Black Male Educators. Troy Kyles is a Black Male counselor in the Philadelphia area. Stephen Tyson Jr. is an adjunct professor at Arcadia that also focuses in hip hop culture and has ties to City Year. He also goes by his rapper name ELECT. He is the founder of JusListen Entertainment. We get into hip hop culture, misogyny, respectability politics and more. This is definitely not the end of this conversation, but we will continue to expand this into more spaces.

HUGE SHOUT OUT TO The Fellowship for Black Male Educators for Social Justice. It was an honor to be part of this amazing weekend. Make sure to check them out as well: https://www.fellowshipbmec.org/

    Don't Erase Afro-Latinx People Sep 30, 2019
    Show notes

This episode of This American Negro discusses the Afro-Latino experience and what this means with Fat Joe's comments, Jharrel Jerome's speech, and Miles Morales' depiction as a character, which meant a lot to me to see. Let me know your thoughts on the episode. Use #TANPod to keep up with the conversation and I can interact with y'all on social media.

    For Freedom's Journal I discuss:

Do Districts Actually Want Black Male Teachers?

    Beyonce and Rihanna's creative processes.

UPDATE: I just listened to the new episode of Bag Ladiez Podcast. I noticed that we referenced some of the same articles. I do believe that they have a strong affinity to explain this topic, since they have this lived experience. I would recommend you listen to their most recent episode. I recognize that they have such a dope experience and platform, so I wanted to make sure that I gave credit where it is due. I highly recommend this podcast. I just started listening to them earlier this month and have been happy to hear these perspectives.
