Here's a couple of charities we're supporting this year, if you have the means, PLEASE donate to one of these or whatever your favorite charity is.

The Christmas Chronicles 2 - Raising Nashville Podcast - Episode 80 Dec 07, 2020

Show notes

It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year. A time when we are inundated with movies about finding love at Christmas, saving Christmas, learning the true meaning of Christmas, or in the case of Christmas Chronicles 2, almost ruining the Christmas holiday, FOR EVERYONE, for the 2nd time in as many years. This week Bucky and Juicebox sit down to watch the sequel to the smash hit(?) The Christmas Chronicles and give their honest opinions on the movie. We also get a theory (fueled by Mixed Greens IPA) about time travel from Juicebox that ends with him realizing he should not have watched this movie alone.

If you have to watch this movie, we recommend putting a couple of drops of CBD on your tongue as it starts, and we just so happen to have a sponsor that can help you out with that. Click the link below and use the code "Raising Nashville" for a discount, or free shipping, or something.

The Imagination Library - Raising Nashville Podcast - Episode 79 Nov 30, 2020

Show notes

As we continue our short series on Dolly Parton, this week we are bringing attention to the charitable side of everyone's favorite Tennessean. In 1990 Dolly switched from superstardom to giving back, and give back she did. The Dollywood Foundation has done countless things to improve society but none compare to the Imagination Library. This free book distribution to children started with a simple order in 1995 for Sevier County, TN and has since grown to 5 countries, 50 states and over 147 million books delivered (for free). How do they do it you ask? Well, we sit down with David Dotson, CEO of the Imagination Library to discuss all things charity and so much more! As a parent this episode is not to be missed.

We Don't Deserve Dolly Parton - Raising Nashville Podcast - Episode 78 Nov 23, 2020

Show notes

Over the next two weeks we will be diving into the national treasure that is Dolly Parton. While we could create an entire podcast dedicated to this amazingly strong woman we want to take two weeks to cover her time in Nashville and her incredible charitable contribution to the world. Up first is the story of Dolly Parton and Porter Wagoner, their rise to fame, a very popular television show and the inevitable breakup that happens when one star shines brighter than the other. The no-so-known scandal that shocked the country music world involved lawsuits, a strange final album and one of the greatest country songs ever written. So give away the rights to your songs, cough up a couple million dollars and grab some headphones because you're not going to want to miss the two sides to this story.

So you found out you're having a kid. What's the next step? Looking for a daycare? Starting a college fund? Sure sure, those are great ideas, but what you should really be thinking about is how BIG you're gonna go with your "Gender Reveal". You gonna bake a little cake with a blue or pink center? Psssh, that's SOOOOOOO 2008. Now days, if you're not starting a fire that does millions of dollars worth of damage are you really even announcing the gender? On this weeks episode we're diving into the ridiculous trend of "Gender Reveals" and try to figure out why the hell it's such a big deal. (We don't figure it out)

Smell My Feet...Through Your Mask - Raising Nashville Podcast - Episode 75 Oct 26, 2020

Show notes

Welp, Halloween week is upon us, and we're a little down about it this year. With a spike in Covid cases (we just had the highest number of infections in one day, but sure, it's fake) it's pretty hard to justify letting our kids Trick or Treat in a traditional way. So we decided to sit down and discuss some of the options on the table this year, while still following CDC guidelines, to keep our families safe. This is a short episode, but if you're interested in the history of Halloween and Trick or Treating (aka Guising, aka Ragamuffin Day) please check out Episode 29 - Trick or Treat, Smell My Feet? . Also a quick reminder, a "Jason" mask does not prevent the spread of Covid, so shut up about it.

What's Trending on Netflix? - Raising Nashville Podcast - Episode 74 Oct 19, 2020

Show notes

This week we are reviewing the (at the time of recording) #1 trending movie on Netflix starring every Adam Sandler character you've ever heard of. Is this movie about bullying? Is it a culmination of all of Sandlers work? Is it the result of an Oscar snub? Who knows? What we do know is this is a typical Happy Madison production fueled by some Netflix money that allowed Sandler, his writers and director to do whatever they wanted. What'd he say again? Did you catch that? Join us this week as we try to make sense of the famed Hubie Halloween. Hibbetydueda.
