Middle School Obsessions Nov 02, 2023
    Show notes

In the past we've discuessed your Current Obsessions but we thought we would take you back to the halls of your middle school, passing carefully folded notes written with gel pens, logging into AIM the second you get home from school, catching the latest episode of Gilmore Girls, school dances complete with glitter eyeshadow (and body glitter), and of course your signature scent one of juniper breeze or cucumber melon.

In this episode the tables are turned, Georgie & Engrid asked you questions over on instagram @putintowordspod and you shared your middle school obsessions - celebrity, music, TV show & more. Join us for a real trip down memory lane.

Let's Talk About Therapy [Repost] Aug 17, 2023
    Show notes

If you've been a long time listener of Gal Pals you know we are very pro-therapy over here. Today's episode is all about our personal experiences with therapy: when we first started going, how we found a good fit, when we started to see "results", and overall how we've evolved because of what we've learned in therapy.

What to Expect From This Episode:

This is meant to be a conversation where we share what prompted us to go to therapy, how we found our therapists, and when we started noticing "results".

Just a friendly reminder these are just our experiences and we realize they do not represent the wide array of experiences folks have with therapy. Our intention is to simply share what this was like for us in hopes to inspire a dialogue with the people in your life and demystify the therapy experience. As always, take what you like and the rest.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • When we first started going to therapy and what prompted it
    • How therapy was talked about in your families growing up
    • How we found the therapists' we have now
    • When did we started to see "results"
    • Ways we've changed/evolved BECAUSE of what we've learned in therapy
    • When we took breaks from therapy or changed therapist and how we knew it was it time to go back
    • What a typical therapy session is like

Things We've Changed Our Minds About [Repost] Aug 10, 2023
    Show notes

Today's episode is all about the opinions, tastes, ideas and beliefs we've changed our minds about. Our intention with this episode is to open up a dialogue about being ok with being wrong about something or letting go of a set of beliefs that may have worked for you in the past. We both find it deeply inspiring to hear how people grow and evolve when presented with new information.

    DISCLAIMER:

In this episode we do discuss disordered eating, eating disorders, and body image in this episode. We do NOT discuss numbers, weight, tracking calories of any kind.

    IN THIS EPISODE:

    • Stuff we used to love - but don't anymore
    • Things we used to hate but kinda like now
    • How we thought our lives would be at this age 29/33 (when we were 15)
    • Groups/ideas/phases we had that looking back are cringe

    RESOURCES MENTIONED:

A new research study that shows how the body and metabolism changes after calorie restriction and dieting. The clients followed a very strict calorie restricted diet and exercise routine and even years after participating in the show, their metabolism was slower than what it should be (Source)

Restriction leads to deprivation which leads to overeating which leads to guilt and then the restriction begins again. You have to stop placing foods off limits and stop restricting in order to stop overeating (Source).

Brittany Dawn: Unpacking Influencer Scams [Repost] Aug 03, 2023
    Show notes

This week we are deep diving into the former fitness influencer Brittany Dawn. If you've never heard of her, she gives us Rachel Hollis vibes but in a slightly different arena. We discuss why her business model was problematic and red flags to look for when it comes to fitness influencer scammers. We love a disclaimer, our intention for this episdoe isn't to bash this individual. But rather to discuss some of the problematic issues in the fitness industry and grifter economy.
