Your Story is Your Strength with Rachel Nusbaum Mar 17, 2020
    Show notes

Sometimes big, life-changing events happen. They leave you feeling bruised and a lot less like the person you know you are in your soul. You divide your life into the before and after. You wonder how to make sense of it and how to move on as a new version of yourself. At 18 weeks pregnant with her second child, she was thrust unwillingly into the dizzying world of pediatric cardiology. She was faced with enormous life or death decisions about the tiny being inside of me, his heart the size of a grape. Crafting and sharing that story of survival (listen to it here!) planted the seed for what has become her creative business, Orchid Story. Trained as a genetic counselor, Rachel Nusbaum looks for places in the world where science, writing, and healing meet together in a pretty Venn diagram. In this episode, you'll hear about:

    • How Rachel started Orchid Story
    • Her son was diagnosed with congenital heart disease
    • Story Corps Podcast
    • Narrative identity
    • Birth story
    • Sanctuary online program

    • Workshops with Rachel
    • The Orchid Story Podcast: Healing Through Personal Narrative
The best place to dive into Rachel's story (and how you can write your own) is on her site. Follow her for more writing therapy on Instagram and Facebook. She says, "Your story is your strength."

Get in the Flo with Alisa Vitti Feb 25, 2020
    Show notes

Alisa made history on the Dr. Oz Show when she discussed menstruation on national TV. She showed them how to 'read' your menstrual blood (using mashed fruit as props) to determine if you have hormonal imbalances. You can see the video here.

She also spoke about hormones, neurochemistry, feminine energy, entrepreneurship, and success at TEDx, Talks@Google, Summit Series Outside, Hay House, WIE Symposium, and SHE Summit.

While she's super science-minded, Alisa has been known to drop F-bombs on stage. You'll find her doing rituals on the new and full moon, and she wears tight, black dresses with colorful aprons in her kitchen — all with her baby girl on her hip and her Italian grandmother's olive-wood spoon in hand.

Alisa built FLO Living as a virtual online health center to help women solve their hormonal symptoms from anywhere in the world. I published a book called WomanCode, which has been in the Top 50 bestselling women's health books of all time since it was published.

Here's a breakdown of our chat:
