Daily Puck Drop, Thu., May 22 - Banana bread, Tush Push, Julio surging May 22, 2025
    Show notes

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett welcomes his Thursday guests, Mike Garafolo from the NFL Network, Brad Adams, ROOT Sports and Mitchy “The Kid!”

Puck opens up the show discussing the Mariners and their series win vs. the White Sox and he looks ahead to their upcoming series against the Astros. George Kirby is back!

Mike Garafolo, NFL Network, drops by and they get off the beaten path with Garafolo describing what the Wing Bowl was in Philadelphia when he worked at WIP Sports Radio. A debauchery that the station put on every year. They transition into the NFL not banning the Tush Push, Brock Purdy’s new deal and the passing of Colts owner Jim Irsay.

Brad Adam, ROOT Sports dials in from Houston as the M’s and Astros get set for their four-game series. Brad was almost late to the show because he was running around muggy Houston looking for coffee and….banana bread. M’s are coming off another series win vs. the White Sox. George Kirby returns right in time for the Mariners. They discuss the dominance of Andres Munoz, the struggles of the Astros/Yordan Alvarez, Cal Raleigh’s talk with Bryan Woo, Polanco health, and Ryan Rowland-Smith and his accent.

“Hey, What the Puck!?” The Mariners need to slay the dragon that are the Houston Astros.

Daily Puck Drop, Wed., May 21 - Karma is real and KJR bosses are paying for it May 21, 2025
    Show notes

On Wednesday’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett and the Go-2-Guy, Jim Moore, open up the show and spend the majority of their episode talking about KJR and the disaster of their new midday host who replaced Puck and Jim and his rant about Mariners broadcaster Ryan Rowland-Smith. Puck and Jim unleash their feelings how they are sympathetic to their former co-workers, but not toward management that decided to make a series of ill fated moves that ended their show. Karma is a bitch and management is getting what they deserved.

Puck plays a portion of his weekly appearance with his MLB Insider Ryan Divish, who is taking a leave of absence from covering the Mariners on a daily basis to coach his stepsons travel ball team. The full show is available for Puck’s Posse members. Visit PuckSports.com to join and listen and watch the whole episode. On the shortened show, Divish and Puck talk about the play of Leodys Taveras and the expected return of Luke Raley and Victor Robles. Divish evaluates the play of Ben Williamson. Cole Young is tearing up AAA Tacoma, will he force the Mariners hand soon to call him up?

“Hey, What the Puck!?” Karma always wins. Treat people without respect and you get what you deserve.

    Show notes

Puck plays an edited version of this weeks Sports Pit with Steve Sandmeyer and Matt “Stretch” Johnson. Puck, Sandy and Stretch talk about their favorite batting stance as kids and that led Sandy to tell a great all-time classic story about his time as a clubhouse attendant at the Kingdome and an encounter with George Brett. They also laughed as Sandy talked about Reggie Jackson and what a jerk he was to his buddy who was also a “clubby” at the same time as Sandy.

Daily Puck Drop, Tue., May 20 - "All balls, no strikes" May 20, 2025
    Show notes

Jim Duquette, MLB Network Radio drops by to chat with Puck about the play of the Mariners and discusses being able to evaluate today’s players with your eyes and not just rely on statistics. Jim praises the play of Andres Munoz and calls him one of the most underrated players in the game. How did Juan Soto’s return to Yankee Stadium go? Jim had a front row seat as he works for the New York Mets broadcast team. Jim also notes what a great weekend it was for baseball with the “rivalry weekend” and a number of division races have great rivalries associated wit them and it has a chance to be great summer for baseball. Puck and Jim wrap up discusses Pete Rose and whether or not he’ll get into the Hall of Fame and what is wrong with the L.A. Dodgers and their development of starting pitchers.

John Canzano, JohnCanzano.com, chats with Puck about whether or not he feels Pete Rose should get in. John is a voter for the Hall of Fame. Mediation is underway between the Pac-12 and the Mountain West. How long will it last and what does it mean for UNLV in terms of joining the conference? John discusses that the conference needs expansion to be resolved by July 1, 2025. The White House is exploring setting up a commission to address college football. Does John think that’s a good idea? Puck and John discuss a follow up story that John did on a very impressive 17 year old umpire from Oregon. It’s a must listen. John finishes with that he doesn’t think Blazer fans should close the door on Phil Knight buying the team.

Puck then plays an edited version of this weeks Sports Pit with Steve Sandmeyer and Matt “Stretch” Johnson.

    Show notes

On today’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett is joined by by the Go-2-Guy, Jim Moore and former Mariners pitcher and host of the “Old School Baseball” podcast Bill Krueger.

Puck starts off the show busting Jim’s chops because he can’t figure out his microphone settings and Puck is begging him to take it to a computer store. Jim and Puck spend much of their show discussing the Mariners and their sweep of the San Diego Padres. Jim argues and for good reason that Bryan Woo is now pitching like the ace of the staff and what makes the Mariners so dangerous is if they can get into the postseason their pitching can be so dominant. Puck is heading down to Bend this weekend for a baseball tournament and is annoyed with Jim that he won’t be there this weekend. They react to Scottie Scheffler winning the PGA Championship and what makes him so likable. Puck celebrates the Ballard High School baseball and softball team for winning the Metro Championships in the same year! The Denver Nuggets couldn’t help out Seattle and take out Oklahoma City. Puck feels it’s inevitable that OKC wins the NBA championship and he can’t stand to think of the reality of that happening.

Bill Krueger, host of the “Old School Baseball” podcast joins Puck for his weekly visit talking Mariners baseball. How did the M’s go from going 1-5 on their last home stand to sweeping the Padres in San Diego? Bill spends a lot of time talking about the Sunday performance of Bryan Woo and the overall performance of Woo for the season. Why his mechanics and delivery make him so consistent and talented.

    Show notes

On Friday’s Daily Puck Drop, Jason “Puck” Puckett welcomes his Friday guests, Jim Moore, Chris Egan from KING 5 and The Scout. Puck and Jim open up talking nonsense like usual. Puck explains to Jim what the Vedder Cup is and Jim is not interested. Jim wants to buy an electric bike and that leads Puck down a rant on E-Bikes…they aren’t bikes, they are motorcycles!

Egan is optimistic about the upcoming Seahawks season and thinks they have a great shot at going 12-5. The boys chat about the Seahawks cracking down on Seahawks fans selling their tickets to opposing fans. Egan and Jim like the idea, but Puck has an issue with it and doesn’t like what they are doing. Egan went to Arizona last weekend to move his college son out and was horrified at what he saw in his apartment.

After Puck says goodbye to Egan and Jim, he welcomes in “The Scout”, an anonymous MLB scout who joins Puck every Friday to get the inside scoop on the Mariners. This week they talk about the recent struggles of Ben Williamson, the red hot play of Cole Young in Tacoma, what does he look for right away in a prospect, Bryan Woo and his dominating fastball, he builds his perfect player with current MLB players and they wrap up discussing the upcoming MLB draft where the Mariners have the third overall selection and the The Scout details all the promising talent in the Northwest that can be drafted in the first round.
