Have you ever wanted a first-hand look into City operations? City University is the way to do it.

We're finally putting the Port in Port St. Lucie!
On Episode 25, CRA Director Jen Davis and Parks Projects Administrator Kelly Boatwright give us the 411 on the awesome amenities that await us at Pioneer Park and The Port District, an area that stretches from just south of the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, up to and including Lyngate Park.
The City of Port St. Lucie has long recognized the value of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River, and for years, residents, business owners and visitors have expressed their desire for more ways to enjoy it. Jen and Kelly take us on a "tour" of Pioneer Park and The Port District and explain how the City succeeded in developing a "destination" for visitors while at the same time, ensuring those plans fit in with the natural environment and the City’s character.

On average, eight people are killed and 49 are seriously injured on Florida’s roads every day. In the majority of those crashes, driver behavior is a contributing factor.
On Episode 24, we chat with Katie Kehres, the Florida Department of Transportation's District Four safety administrator, about Target Zero, a statewide initiative to reduce the number of transportation-related serious injuries and deaths across Florida to zero.
Target Zero focuses on identifying behaviors that contribute to crashes and understanding why those behaviors occurred, identifying the specific target audience and creating impactful messages to influence safe driving. It focuses on influencing change in these specific behaviors before they occur.
The City of Port St. Lucie has been partnering with FDOT on this initiative since October 2022, when it was chosen as the lead for Target Zero's kickoff.

Did you know that not all road projects under construction in the City of Port St. Lucie are controlled by the City? Ever wonder why a certain project seems to be taking a little longer to complete than others? When you share valuable input with us about a project, how exactly do we use it?

The Citizen Summit is one of the most important events at the City of Port St. Lucie. It allows residents to receive in-depth information about the City’s Strategic Plan and also provide input on the plan’s seven goals.
In a nutshell, it gives them an opportunity to shape the future of their city.

Significant progress has been made in 2023 regarding the City's goal of making Port St. Lucie an exceptional community that is truly the Heart of the Treasure Coast. Insurance Services Office ratings score a fire department’s ability to protect the community. On Episode 11, St. Lucie County Fire District Division Chief Chad Crouse and Mayor Shannon Martin break down the Fire District’s Class 2 rating and what it means for Port St. Lucie residents, including how the score could get lower insurance rates for homeowners. They also discuss the county’s explosive growth and the Fire District’s investment in a new administrative complex and additional fire stations over the next few years, so it can continue to keep the community safe.

Early concepts and surveys for Torino Regional Park were designed and permitted in 2007, but because of the Great Recession, plans were put on hold. Fast forward 16 years and -- building on what was learned during the initial design -- the project team is full steam ahead with what would be the City’s first regional park. On Episode 6, Maureen talks with Parks Administrator Kelly Boatwright about the master plan, design and next steps for the 200-acre park. Kelly also shares feedback from residents about what they want to see there, including a playground, a pump track, paved trails, nature trails, water features, a dog park and more.
