    Show notes

Last evening, a physician preparing to surrender to federal prison for 37 months asked me:

    1. Are there weights at Fort Dix Federal Prison?
    2. How good is the food?
    3. How thick is the mattress?

I share thoughts in our new podcast.

Early Release From Federal Prison: INSIDER SECRETS! Mar 30, 2022
    Show notes

Most defendants want to get out of federal prison as early as possible.

    Makes sense, right?

Yet, in our experience, not every federal defendant is willing to put in the work to get out of federal prison as early as possible.

There are a number of reasons defendants may not be willing to put in the work.

If you are willing to do the work, then this video I filmed with Sam Mangel is for you!

In this video, Sam and I cover why some people struggle to earn their release from federal prison–despite thinking they did everything correctly.

How Long Will Theranos COO Sunny Balwani Wait To Prepare For Sentencing? Mar 28, 2022
    Show notes

As you likely know, former Theranos COO Sunny Balwani's trial has begun in Northern California in front of Judge Edward Davila.

Balwani's defense, I think, is somewhat predictable. He will blame Holmes (as she blamed him), and reinforce that he was manipulated by her and she was the real mastermind who had no previous business experience.

Regardless of what his lawyers say, the odds are against Mr. Balwani prevailing. It does not help that his former partner and lover, Elizabeth Holmes was convicted.

In this video, I address what Mr. Balwani should be doing to prepare for a possible sentencing hearing.

Too many white collar defendants wait to prepare and eventually realize they missed golden opportunities. I encourage Mr. Balwani (or any federal defendant) to take immediate action on his sentencing mitigation plan.
