S2E13: "The Killing Box" | Kellerman's Reversal | Bellick's Plea Deal | T-Bag's Disposal of Denise Apr 16, 2025

Show notes

Midseason Finale of 'Prison Break' - The Killing Box

Sarah Wayne Callies and Paul Edelstein recap Prison Break Season 2 Episode 13, “The Killing Box,” discussing how midseason finales worked in 22-episode network TV and how this episode pivots the story from running to “turning back into the flames,” with Kellerman joining Michael and Lincoln to go after Reynolds as the conspiracy “onion” peels. They review major plot beats: the brothers’ arrest and escape during transfer, Kim’s double-cross of Kellerman via Mahone, Kellerman shooting Mahone and aligning with the brothers, Bellick’s plea deal sending him back to Fox River under a new warden, T-Bag seducing and then killing Denise to reach Mrs. Hollander, and Sara’s desperate disguise and voicemail to Michael saying “I need you.” They analyze the episode’s theme of vulnerability and “soft parts,” praise Zach Estrin’s writing and Bobby Roth’s direction, and share extensive behind-the-scenes stories including Callies realizing she was pregnant during filming, keeping it secret amid leaks, and the pressures of early internet commentary like Television Without Pity.
