Episode 271: End of Year Wrap-Up, Part Two Dec 23, 2022
    Show notes
To wrap up the year, we take a look back at happenings between 0000022.M03 and 0997022.M03. It was a year that brought us the update of the final 8th edition codexes, seasonal 40K, quarterly balance dataslates, and even a brand-new faction. What armies dominated the full return of super-major events? Did Games Workshop win the battle to balance the game, or is there yet more war to wage? Should the Aeldari get yearly Phoenix Lord and Aspect Warrior updates? Did Rob’s dream of Traitor Guard as a separate army come true? We talk about all that and more in our last episode of the year!

Episode 270: End of Year Wrap-Up, Part One Dec 10, 2022
    Show notes
The year is winding to an end, and there’s a lot to discuss in the last couple of weeks! Fortunately, Rob, Dennis, and Richard are here to tackle the topics. We discuss the end of the US Open Series, both in the Competitive and Narrative tracks, with a deep dive into all the stops Games Workshop pulled out for the narrative finale. Also, we talk about the last Metawatch of the year and what it tells us about how things are going from a design and balance standpoint. There’s also the Chaos-focused reveals from the Grand Narrative preview, such as Vashtorr and the new World Eaters. We dig into the holiday army bundles and give our rankings on which boxes are the best for your buck. Finally, we take a look at the Armies on Parade winners and just what we love about all of them. We’ll be back in two weeks for Part Two of our Year-End Wrap-Up!

Episode 269: Ninth Edition Astra Militarum Nov 24, 2022
    Show notes
It’s time to bite the bullet, grab our t-shirts and flashlights, and brave something otherwise unknown to us – talking about the Imperial Guard! We dig into the codex included in the new Cadia Stands box and discuss 10 things you need to know about the new Astra Militarum. From the new subfaction-free regimental doctrines to the new units, and all the high points inbetween, we do our best to dig into this army that none of us play. How do orders work? Where did Commissar Yarrick and his tank go? Which is better – Tempestus or Kasrkin? And do we really need four different varieties of infantry squad? We address this and more as we do our best to review this book! Also, news and new releases, your listener mail, hobby progress, and a snappy Morale Phase!

How many things can a Khorne Kytan kill at once? How did the Sororitas and their Votann allies fare? And which of the three brought home the trophy for the most famous hero in the event? Listen and find out the answers to these questions and more!

We’ve spent a lot of episodes talking about 9th Edition 40K, but one thing we’ve never really touched on is 9th Edition’s spin on narrative 40K, Crusade. With three of us getting ready to play in the Crusade event at the Warhammer US Open in Kansas City, it’s time to turn our focus towards this neglected format! In this episode, we delve into the nuts and bolts of Crusade – what is it, how it works, and how it differs from traditional matched play. We also discuss what we’re bringing to the event, why we’re bringing it, and how we’re making those lists work. Also, news and new releases, including a deep dive into the emergency Leagues of Votann updates, your listener mail, our hobby progress, and a smashing Morale Phase!

    Episode 263: The One-Sentence Fix for 40K? Aug 01, 2022
    Show notes
In episode 258, we asked the question: Has Warhammer 40K become too complex? In this episode, we discuss an editorial on Frontline Gaming that suggests fixing the complexity and balance issues of 9th Edition with one simple fix. One single errata, this article claims, could correct the flaws of 40K and bring in a new, better age of the game. We take a look at that suggestion and give our thoughts, as well as some alternatives. Also, news and new releases (including a review of some brand-new models), the return of your listener mail, our hobby progress, Dennis’s solo tournament update, and the Morale phase!
