062: Rethinking Hell (Eternal Torment VS Conditional Mortality) | Ft. Chris Date Aug 22, 2020

Show notes

On this episode of the Preacher Boys Podcast, Eric is joined by Chris Date. Chris is Adjunct Professor of Bible and Theology at Trinity College of the Bible and Theological Seminary and co-editor of Rethinking Hell: Readings in Evangelical Conditionalism (Cascade, 2014) and A Consuming Passion (Pickwick, 2015). A full-time software engineer, Chris believes theology and apologetics are for every average joe in the pews, and not just for pastors, philosophers, PhD’s and the erudite in ivory towers. Formerly a traditionalist, he became convinced of the biblical view of final punishment over the course of a process which began when he interviewed Edward Fudge, and he has since defended the view in several debates and on Justin Brierley's Unbelievable? radio program on Premier Christian Radio UK. Chris is also a steward of the Rethinking Hell project. 057: SOLO | Grindhouse Gospel Aug 08, 2020

Show notes

With a filmography including movies like Untamed Mistress, The Exotic Ones, King of the Bullwhip, Mesa of Lost Women, and Girl from Tobacco Row - Ron Ormond had established himself as a bonafide exploitation and grindhouse filmmaker in Nashville, Tennessee. His signature schlocky style has undeniable charm. With his off-kilter visuals, surprisingly gory set-pieces, and experimental editing choices, the last thing any of his films can be accused of being is boring. The most interesting of his directorial output, however, begins in 1971, when Ormond first partnered with fundamentalist pastor, Estus W. Pirkle, to direct the film, “If Footmen Tire You, What Will Horses Do?” The film warned about the impending dangers of communism on American families and churches. The second film to come from this unique collaborative team would come in 1974... The title? “The Burning Hell.” Watch the mini-doc, Grindhouse Gospel: https://youtu.be/RoyH6wlpW5I (https://youtu.be/RoyH6wlpW5I) Find more stories regarding the IFB movement by visiting: https://open.acast.com/shows/5e123e2b355ab8560d61f99c/episodes/preacherboysdoc.com (preacherboysdoc.com) https://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/ (https://www.facebook.com/preacherboysdoc/) https://twitter.com/preacherboysdoc (https://twitter.com/preacherboysdoc) https://www.instagram.com/preacherboysdoc/ (https://www.instagram.com/preacherboysdoc/) To connect with a community who share the Preacher Boys Podcast mission to expose abuse in the IFB, join the OFFICIAL Preacher Boys Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188/ (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1403898676438188/)
