s2 ep 19 I Listened to Lana Del Rey in Middle School, I was Never Gonna Be OK Jan 20, 2023

The earlier 2010’s was a… questionable time to be a teen. You have all day re-runs of Thirteen (2003) starting Nikki Reed and Rachel Evan Wood on lifetime, an ungodly amount of un-supervised time on the internet and angst. SO MUCH angst.
Suddenly, you’re 16, watching thirteen, scrolling through tumblr while blasting 'Shades of Cool' by Lana Del Rey, and watching her make out with that old man, and suddenly you're like...... "I'm not living." "No one gets me." "Where is the drama in my life?"
On this episode our host discusses age gap relationships. She talks about her experience with them and when they are appropriate, if ever. She talks about how these relationships can stunt emotional and mental growth and leave you in a state of distrusts with yourself. Divine raises a few red flags she noticed in said relationships.
Our host also discusses grooming, “To catch a predator”, and why as teenager’s our hollow minds thought it was cool to date men who were in their twenties. So big fat, TRIGGER WARNING.
We also discuss limerence, and ultimately reach the point in every conversation between women where we ask, “why are so many M3N serial killers?”
    So fun, :)

Texts To My Therapist #1: Welcome Jan 09, 2023

    "What is this?" You ask?
    "A new segment." I say.
Yes, all the texts I wish I could send to my therapist that have nothing to do with personal growth or healing, that would probably be hippa violations.
This is a new segment from the minds over at The Vine Philo Wellness Club (lol, literally Divine) about pop culture. What we're watching, what we're listening to, current events, news and so so so much more.
On the very first episode of "Texts to my Therapist", Wednesday, For All Man Kind and Alice in Borderland. Three very different shows and Divines' ciritiqueof them all. We have a little Cold War history lession while talking about For All Man Kind, and also plan a wedding?

s2 e17 The Spirit of Quitting is Upon Me, Real Bad Jan 06, 2023

On this soley audio episode, Divine is going through it.
She made it exactly three days into the new year before having her first panic attack. She's busy, she's stressed, she's in a transitional period. She's trying to figure it out. And obviously the solution to all her issues is waking up at 5 in the morning and doing daily cold plunges, duh.

s2 e16 If I hear The Words 'Buccal Fat' One More Time... Dec 24, 2022

    s2 e15 Twitter Rotted Your Brain Dec 17, 2022

This weeks episode is a little different. It's not about relationships or personal growth no. Divine spends a considerable about of time making fun of crypto bros and dissecting why tf Elon Musk acts the way he does. She discusses social media, specifically twitter and it's impending downfall that she is looking forward to. She compares and contrasts it to Freuds psychoanalytic theory and evaluates the morality or lack thereof that comes with having the world at your finger tips.
She reminisces on her days working in media and unpacks the future of digital media and its correlating trends.

s2 e14 Ugly Men and The Audacity Dec 03, 2022

Ugly Men and the Audacity, what a great name for a band.
This week was a mess. First the podcast mic did not record, then the camera lighting wasn't right. Then some woman confiscated our hosts eyebrows right off of her face. Then the podcast had to be re-flimed, not once, not twice, but three times. But through it all, Divine kept her cool...ish.
This week our host talks about just that, keeping cool when the fire gets hot and rolling with lifes punches. She talks about making the conscious decision to not focus on the bad and to continuously celebrate the good. She mourns her eyebrows. She contemplates bangs. She bargains with God. Just the normal stuff.
Our host then launches into the female gaze Tiktok--yes that one. The one with that guy that was later found to be a raging, violent, misogynist? Oh, still confused cuz there are so many? The ugly guy. The one who looks like Mr. Tumnus. Yes, that one. She talks about ugly men and their audacity, where they get it from. How in this patriarchy there will never be an instance where men 'get it" just because they're a little ugo. Why? Because they were raised in this society babe. Duh
This leads into a larger conversation about the beauty standard, about expectations and so much more.

s2 e13 My Reality is Not a Melatonin Induced Fever Dream Nov 18, 2022

Every week the same dilemma for our host, “What the hell am I going to talk about?” The irony in these sort of days when Divine does not feel like recording is that somehow it always produces the most honest and vulnerable conversations.
Reminiscent of the very first episode of POV YOU’RE MY THERAPIST , “everyone is getting married and I just downloaded bumble…again.” This episode has a certain Jenny say Quan about it. Maybe it’s the underlying wave of chaotic emotions Divine is desperate to somehow suppress but also use as content? Or maybe it’s the countless melatonin fueled fever dreams she recounts in detail.
Divine explores the themes of long term singleness, the catharsis she feels when she encounters other long term single women who are members of other social strata. She also explores how this long term singleness affects her friendships, and ex-friendships. There is also themes of a pity party, so of course Divine has to take you down the memory lane of failed situation-ships, friendships and hard learned life lessons.

Merch is now here and certain sizes are already selling out! So get yours today ! https://www.vinephilo.com
In this episode, our host talks about a menu of topics. From the bad vibes on twitter to envy vs. Jealousy and the danger that lies in both of these emotions. When and how to nip envy in the bud and how jealousy stunts growth. Divine also talks about Unsolved Mysteries (CW: violence against women), family annihilators, getting kidnapped and how she is not built to suffer or survive the apocalypse. She also talks about generational trauma in migrant families and late blooming anxiety in older generations. As well as physical means of releasing wound up tension.
She also talks about why she's off men, (for real this time). How Men talk themselves out of sectual relations and why they annoy her. This episode has everything, crime, complaining, sex, anxiety, like it’s a lot and it’s a great episode so go listen to it.

    S2 e11. I'm 27 Years Old...and I'm Frightened Nov 04, 2022

Be the first to know about mercy, giveaways and more! https://www.vinephilo.com
It was only 208 years ago that Jane Austen wrote Pride and Prejudice, a novel so timeless that it is still relevant to Divines life, in the form of a meme going around twitter of a very emotional Charlotte Lucas. She explains to her sister why she was marrying the "pompous, annoying" but not “evil” Mr. Collins. She says "I'm twenty seven years old, I've no money, no prospects and I'm already a burden to my parents. So, don't judge me Lizzy."
Charlotte Lucas and our lovely host Divine have two of these things in common. I think you can guess which ones.
On this weeks episode, Divine takes you on a journey through her birthday week so riddled with bad omens, that even Jane Austen could not set up a timeline so ridiculously unfortunate. The story begins with a b bloody broken nail and ends with a man with horrible breath.
This episode focuses on friendship, relationships, disappointment, crushes, crying—all of it, every terrible little thought that rushes through the mind as a birthday approaches Divine goes through it all.

    s2 e10. Wounded Bad B*tch Energy Oct 22, 2022

Divine always felt like there are two versions of her--the Divine she is now, and the one she was. And if by chance, Divine were to walk by her old self on the street she wouldn't recognize her. Her head would be hung low, she'd be quiet, meek, full of shame and self loathing. If by some wild turn of events they ended up talking to one another, new Divine would tell old Divine, "girl, you gotta get a grip--forgive yourself." The rest of the conversations would include a lot of, "you don't need validation." "love yourself." ect. ect. all of those annoying adages that leave old Divine feeling unheard and misunderstood.
But the thing new Divine knows, having been where old Divine stands now--is that it is all frustratingly true. Those adages, are years of therapy sessions, tears, long conversations, and healing boiled down into two over used words. "Love yourself."
So on today's episode, in anticipation of a new year (I know it's early but hang in there) Divine wants you to start thinking about healing your wounded feminine energy. Those insecurities, that shame, that self loathing, that victimhood, that cold and bitter frustration that gnaws at you every waking moment. Yeah, we're getting rid of all of that shit and this episode is the starting point. enjoy!

S2 e9. Men Are Out, bell hooks is In Oct 14, 2022

Deep In her core something shifted. In these last few months, Divine has more or less willingly sat out the dating scene. Passed up on advances, and actually listened to the old adage, "actions speak louder than words." And from her observations she has come to one conclusion... That men, no matter how innocent, air headed or playful they may be know exactly what they are doing.....
In this episode, Divine wonders if there is such a thing as a good man. In this imbalanced society, where women seem to wear their hearts on their sleeves and men seem to be utterly clueless...she asks, is it possible to be that dumb? Or is it willful ignorance? As she approaches a cuffless fall, she looks to find comfort in herself and in radical feminist literature.
When it comes to the topic of men, the words of Andre Leon Talley ring true to our host, "It's a famine of beauty, honey! My eyes (and soul) are starving for beauty!” But for as long as Divine seeks nourishment from men, she wonders (knows) that she will starve to death.

    S2 e8 Yes Friendship Breakups Suck Oct 07, 2022

For some reason the question of community, how to build it and what to do without it came about a lot these last few weeks. So, very reluctantly, Divine is talking about community. She talks about friendship break ups, what good friendships look and feel like. She also talks at length about the rarity that is self awareness, and emotional intelligence. She also talks about Don't Worry Darling, movies and some other stuff.

She explains the process her and her therapist use to narrow down what she looks for in a partner, and no not just the shallow stuff (6'4), but the deep (6'4) , touchy (6'4) , feely (6'), nitty gritty stuff. From familial relationships to personal attributes (kindness, integrity, generosity, emotional availability), to income and literally everything else under the sun. Divine iterates the importance of knowing what you want in a partner so you are not easily swayed by what you don't want! And don't worry she's not being shallow or picky! This is literally the bare minimum for men, remember that! 😉She also talks about why she is officially ready for a lobotomy and is not seeing the psychic again until December 2022. And a whole lot of other stuff. Its a fun episode! stick till the very end for the secret phrase!Tiktok: https://www.tiktok.com/@dphile Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/vinephilo/twitter: https://twitter.com/vinephiloListen to the Podcast Anywhere! https://linktr.ee/Povyouremytherapist

ep 24. Tis Not Love Bombing, But Comfort Bombing Apr 08, 2022

On today’s episode Divine steps into her Elle Woods Harvard era to lecture about "Comfort Bombing". A concept first introduced to the world in this very episode! Coined by her and the only man in existence that she will ever speak highly of on the Internet, Divine details the different types of comfort bombing: the men who do it innocently, the men who are downright confused and finally the men who know exactly what they are doing and deserve a lifelong retreat at the state penitentiary. In this episode, she also details the different ways men and women view intimacy, commitment and romance, then in the second half talks about the fear of failure and the sunk cost fallacy. Divine talks about her own failures and why most fears regarding failing are not actually about failing but about the perception of others who have observed us on our journey.

ep 23. The Hot, Lonely Girl Paradox Apr 01, 2022

This week's episode is a doozy. Divine has had a rough couple of weeks. She's been spiraling while trying to get her life together but life does not care to be gotten. She's lowkey desperate for stability at this point, even going as far as seeing a psychic (not a tik tok one) for some hint of guidance. It helped but clearly not enough. In this episode Divine talks about the long, spiral of loneliness. The isolation, the self-doubt, and judgment that comes along with it. She details the spiral from just wanting a hug to her therapist asking her if she needs grippy socks🧍🏽‍♀️.She explains the way loneliness has clouded her judgment in the past and present, she talks of its evil stepsister despair and just how easy it is to find yourself in a passionate entanglement with both. She ends the episode with the affirmations she is doing her best to practice this week, 💞💞.

She doesn't know when it happened but somewhere along the way Divine stopped being insecure. Not completely, but the intense kind of insecure, the one where she thought strangers could hear her very normal breathing, hear her bones creaking or were watching her every move when really they were minding their business. In this weeks episode, Divine celebrates these small wins, and other bigger wins! She talks about: overcoming insecurity and anxiety, learning to be comfortable in her skin, her fear of being kidnapped/ murdered, the difference between women in Atlanta and in NYC, ❤️strippers❤️, her favorite place in the world--the women's bathroom at a party, PCOS....what else? Wigs and last but def not least, she talks about her ongoing beef with Love is Blind and why you should never EVER settle. Sidenote, the podcast is officially old enough to drink. My dear listener, can you believe we have been listening to this girl for TWENTY episodes?!?! (surprise update by the way) Anyways! On this weeks episode! Divine talks about college, the regrets she has about her education and career, what 19 year-old Divine thought life would look like by now and the uncertainties that STILL lie ahead. On this weeks bite sized episode… Divine talks about her most recent encounter with an audacious man and lemme tell ya, she put her whole ussy into removing any identifying factors of that man. She also gives men a few tips on how to properly put in a request for the uh…. casual boink, so that no one gets hurt. Hint* it’s very simple and straight forward. She also touches upon the ig lurkers and haters and anonymous commenters and also gives them a few pointers on how to not be so p*ssy in the comments and in real life. This episode was recorded a while ago, hence the dated West Elm Caleb reference, but the truth remains!

ep 15. All The Hot Girls Have Daddy Issues Jan 21, 2022

Like the rest of the America’s Divine has been fighting for her life against HBO Max to stream Euphoria. And while watching episode one, she saw herself in one of the main characters—not Maddy, whose iconic rebuttal to being asked for a kiss was “No, you’re corny” — but Cassie. Yes Cassie Howard, and her oh, so close to Hereditary headless horseman moment, played back in slow-mo to Oliver Pecks' Dead of Night (I still can’t believe this was a real tv moment). This week we’re talking Cassie Howard and her daddy issues! And Divine and her daddy Issues! The longing! The seeking of constant validation! The allowing herself to be used and ignoring all consequences for a crrrrrrrrrrrrrumb of what’s missing deep down inside! Yup! Sounds like it!
