Advent Meditations - "Free Us From Bondage" Dec 09, 2022
    Show notes

This week, our time has centered on why Jesus entered humanity; through it all, we've seen it was ultimately for His glory and our good. We'll touch upon this today as we consider the life-changing liberation an encounter with His love brings.

Advent Meditations - "Seek & Save the Lost" Dec 08, 2022
    Show notes

For many of us, we define the holiday season as one of the few times that we see the family and friends that we care about. The weeks, months, and sometimes years of separation can make reconnection that much more special. On the other hand, when reconnection doesn’t happen, whether due to distance, loss, or circumstance, it can be heartbreaking. The weight of grief and the sense of separation diminishes our spirit. Today, as we look to the life of Christ, we will consider the pains of a different separation and the lengths God will go to seek and save the lost, and then, celebrate in their reconciliation

Advent Meditations - "To Fulfill the OT Prophecy of the Messiah" Dec 07, 2022
    Show notes

At one point or another, we've all pondered the question, "WHY JESUS?" Why did He come? Why was He needed? Why does He matter? Fortunately for us, Jesus welcomed that question and was more than willing to provide an answer, and it's the answer we want to look at today.

Advent Meditations - "An Example of True & Authentic Faith" Dec 06, 2022
    Show notes

Today's reflection confronts a daily battle taking place behind the scenes; it's a tension we all face - humility versus pride. Those are our options, and one always wins out. We all pursue convenience to some degree and living in today's age, it is easy to experience. Everything we could ever want or desire is at our fingertips. Convenience is the ultimate value in our culture. But Jesus offers a different way of living - defined by a servant's heart.

Advent Meditations - "To Do God's Will" Dec 05, 2022
    Show notes

Jesus knew His purpose - to do God's will. So if Jesus was all about loving people and caring for their needs, it leads us to reason that God's will is others-oriented and always lies outside ourselves. Those faithful steps of obedience are where Jesus drew His strength. It works the same for us. By giving ourselves away, we refresh our souls.

    "Transformation" - Mike Ashcraft | Blessed Hope, Part 2 Dec 04, 2022
    Show notes

We have found ways not to be bothered by our need for a "blessed hope" through our false senses of security. They become our solution to our brokenness. Even though they, for a time, provide us comfort and a way forward to a degree, they will eventually become eroded, usually through tragedy or by our encounters with Jesus, when we become thirsty for something other than our way and might. On some level, we all understand that removing our false sense of security is best for us, but loosening our grip is terrifying. However, our personal transformation begins when we move beyond our desire to protect these false senses of security. Hope is a response to a need. Jesus' return is not an interruption to our lives and hopes for the future; instead, it brings the fulfillment of what our hearts long to experience. Embracing His grace causes us to long for His return. Jesus fulfills everything we want in ways we are only beginning to imagine. Our transformation plays out as we yield to redemption.

Advent Meditations - "Son of God" Dec 02, 2022
    Show notes

Consider for a moment the absurdity that for centuries we’ve been celebrating the birth of someone who, at the time, arrived to no fanfare in a small farming village in the Middle East. Somehow, this individual who grew up and became a simple carpenter changed the course of human history. No one has had a more significant impact on shaping this world and culture than Jesus Christ. But, why Jesus? What makes Him so remarkable and why does His life bring us such hope as believers? What we do with Jesus matters.

Advent Meditations - "The Way, The Truth, and The Life" Dec 01, 2022
    Show notes

I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Often, we view these words of Jesus only through the lens of salvation and what awaits us in heaven. Yes, it encompasses those aspects, but there is something deeper Jesus wants us to understand. Jesus isn’t talking about a place we will go to someday; He’s speaking about a person who wants to be in a life-giving relationship with us every day.

Advent Meditations - "Light of the World" Nov 30, 2022
    Show notes

When Jesus came, He brought freedom and peace, He brought order and goodness, His light didn’t bring ease, it made us right with God. Often, we look for Jesus when things are hard and when we feel like we’ve done everything we can. What if today we looked for the light that He provides in the everyday moments of our life.

Advent Meditations - "Good Shepherd" Nov 29, 2022
    Show notes

Yesterday, we considered how our spiritual hunger, those deep longings for meaning, purpose, and value, find their ultimate satisfaction in Christ Jesus - the Bread of Life. Today, we want to remind ourselves that we all need the intentional and compassionate care of a Savior, and we need look no further than Jesus, the One known as the Good Shepherd.
