138 - Ghostbusters Oct 21, 2019

Show notes

We ain't 'fraid of no ghosts. That's right, Popettes. We continue on our spooky musical journey through the month of October with Ray Parker Jr.'s "Ghostbusters" theme! We know this song is LESS on the spook factor, but what IS scary is copyright infringement, which is a big theme of this week's episode. Also, we talk about why this song's arrangement gives a ghostly veil of more chords where there aren't more chords. Who ya gonna call? POP MUSIC.

135 - She Drives Me Crazy Sep 30, 2019

Show notes

She drives me crazy OOH OOOOOOOOH! Is there a limit to the amount of times a person can say how much they love this Fine Young Cannibals song? Hope not because Omar and Analise say it at least 67 times and would be in clear violation. In this week's episode, we dissect the classic 1988 jam and how this band came to be. Also, there's a random discussion about fellow 'crazy' song "Crazy" by KC and Jojo and how the music video is WILD.

134 - Torn Sep 23, 2019

Show notes

EVERYTHING'S RIGHT, WE'RE TORN. What can we say about Natalie Imbruglia? Evidently, 51 minutes worth of content. But what can you expect? Analise and Omar freaking LOVE this song because they're children of the 90's and nothing else matters. They'll break down why the song's composition makes us feel all the things, how sad those lyrics REALLY are, and why the fact that this song is a cover is always a surprise to people.

133 - Butterfly Sep 16, 2019

Show notes

Come my lady, come come my lady. In this week's episode and our last OFFICIAL episode of our Summer of Nostalgia, Omar and Analise break down the incredible drug trip known as Crazy Town's "Butterfly." Omar claims that the song is just as good as anything Allen Ginsberg has done. Analise comes to agree with this, and both decide to come up with a hypothetical film that could accompany the epic chords of this song. Also - did you know that this song is in Nancy Meyers's "Something's Gotta Give"? CRAZY. TOWN.
