    Artist Spotlight - Nizzie @MatchboxNizzie ‏ Jul 07, 2017
    Show notes

Welcome to another edition of PoPolitickin. In this episode, we politick with emerging rap artist Nizzie.
Chavon Vanias was born and raised in the music industry. Today he’s known as the hip-hop artist, Nizzie. He is a lyricist that expresses his love for music and his unique perspective on life through thought provoking words and imagery. He calls his lyrical style, “Club Conscious” because he delivers club head bangers with a message you might not even notice is there as you’re rocking out to one of his songs.
A native of Columbia, South Carolina, Nizzie spent his early years down South before moving to Brooklyn, NY to live with his father, Tony Vanias. Tony worked in the A&R departments of Motown Records and Island/Def Jam, where Nizzie met and was inspired by music pioneers such as Stevie Wonder, Sean “Puffy” Combs, and Jay Z. Entertainment was in Nizzie’s blood. Initially exploring his acting talents with several roles in local productions, however, music was his passion and has been his daily grind since he was nine years old. Those many late nights in the recording studio with his father nurtured a burning desire for Nizzie to put his own pen to paper to write and develop his skills as a lyricist with something to say.

The true life story of a Dallas native once considered one of the city’s best basketball players in the late 1980’s. He attended Spruce High School from 1986 to 1989. He only played 3 years of high school and 3 years of college. He was the first ball player in the history of the Dr. Pepper Tournament in 1989 to lose the championship game and still be named MVP. He was named All-State and Honorable Mention All-American in the 1989. He went on to play college ball at the University of New Mexico, where he led the Lobos to their first Western Athletic Conference (WAC) and was named Tournament (MVP), and 1st team All -Conference. He later became the 24th Leading scorer in Lobo’s history in only 3 years of play. He became a free agent with the Los Angeles Lakers and was drafted 3rd round in the CBA. After leaving the CBA, he played in the United States Basketball League, and later overseas in Caracas, Venezuela. Then it all went bad. He made a drastic turn to the street life, where he fell into the bottomless pit of the underworld. Fallen. Never to get up. But he survived to tell his story. This is my story. “From The Court To The Streets.”

    Bio
Evil Minded is a HipHop/Reggae group from Oceanside Ca. The group consist of MajorDamage on the vocals & Wicked Rhythm on the beats & production. Due to our views of a crooked ass Government & the fact we smoke weed. The general public, & some close to us think we just promote evil. So that's how we got the name.
We have been working on music for years with different members of the group coming & going. Sometimes life gets in the way, but we always found time to get back to doing what we were put here to do. With the help of our longtime friend Emerson Windy, we got things rolling again.
Some of our influences range from Bob Marley to Eazy E, Brotha Lynch Hung to Emerson Windy. We know the music biz is cut throat & we're ready to cut throats.
