In this episode of PoPolitickin, we poltickin with Conner Cherland.
Conner Cherland is a Santa Barbara based singer-songwriter that plays a blend of styles from Americana, Indie/Folk, to Soul music. With heavy influence from Hozier, Ed Sheeran, and Shakey Graves, Cherland developed a rare sound of live guitar looping and percussion. You’re likely to wonder how so many sounds can come from just one man.
Cherland’s new album, "The Choices of John Still" is a mash-up of indie rock sound and singer-songwriter storytelling. Thematically covering the relationship between love and control, Conner Cherland uses catchy melodies, distorted vocals, and beautiful harmonies to make his thesis. Director of TV shows, Reba and Marlon, Robbie Countryman says Cherland is a “rising new talent in the music world.”

    Artist Spotlight - Sharaya J | @Sharaya_J Sep 21, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode of PoPolitickin, we politick with rapper and choreographer Sharaya J.
A native Hawaiian, but raised in Jersey City, New Jersey, Sharaya J has always been an artist at heart. She was exposed early by her father who was a member of 90's Hip Hop group Double XX Posse. Sharaya has always been a natural performer. With a very successful career in the dance industry working with the likes of Diddy, Rihanna, Ciara and Alicia Keys as well as great choreographers like Laurianne Gibson, Fatima Robinson and Jamaica Craft, Sharaya is no stranger to the spotlight.
In 2013, after a chance encounter, she landed a deal with The Goldmind Inc. This allowed Sharaya the opportunity to study and work under the legendary Missy Elliott as her protégé. Within the same year, Sharaya J released her debut single "BANJI". This record not only displayed an underground Jersey Club rhythmic sound, but it also created an international movement. Never slowing down, Sharaya released two more singles, "Takin' It No More" and "Shut It Down" which set the dance world ablaze.
Sharaya J is simply a woman of many talents. In early 2014, Sharaya J joined forces with Alexander Wang starring in his T by Alexander Wang campaign and becoming a brand ambassador for his line. With multiple features throughout the year including Dazed Digital, Interview magazine and NY Mag/The Cut, Sharaya blazed a trail “to get the people dancin’ again!!!” She even caught the eye of Wilhelmina Models and was signed to their celebrity board by the years end. The oh-so talented Sharaya J even started her own company, BANJI Entertainment. Under that umbrella she released her next single “BIG”; which reintroduced her fans to a more evolved lyricist and an established brand. In the first half of 2017, Sharaya J dropped her explosive collective entitled “Dope Product – Vol. 1”; showcasing fierce freestyles over tracks from both the past and present. Followed by the release of the single “New Wave” in October. Currently this entertainer, filmmaker, actress and choreographer is working harder than ever as one of the original contestants on Fox Network's hit show The Four. There’s no telling where her talents will take her.

    Artist Spotlight - Shardé Sangz | @shardesangz Sep 18, 2018
    Show notes

In this episode of PoPolitickin, we politick with Shardé.
As a young girl growing up in West LA, Shardé was exposed to many rich cultures, traditions, people and forms of musical expression. As someone who always naturally gravitated toward the power of music, Shardé regularly shared her vocal talents at church services and events. From Church, she was able to take her love of singing into new realms. She began composing her own music and even began rapping. She wrote her first song at the age of 13 called “Haters” which caught the attention of a producer. He helped her write her second song called “Dance Floor” at 15 years old, which won her 1st place in a school talent show. From there, Sharde gained a new sense of confidence. The essence of who she is, and the strength of her persona comes through her music and her performances.
Shardé is the first ever winner American Airline & Essence Magazine’s “I am New and Next” competition in July 2018 at the annual Essence Festival. Before her Essence Fest win, she’s been a runner up on NBC’s “The Winner Is”, won TruTV “Killer Karaoke” and was season 3’s winner of NBC’s “The Voice” On Snapchat, in which she beat out over 20,000 people. Her largest crowd was at the Stubhub center in Carson, CA where she sang the national anthem for the National CrossFit Games. Over 10 thousand people were in attendance. Aside from performances, she has worked on her own original music where she was able to dive into who she truly was. Doing competitions was great but she wanted more. She wanted to be able to express what was in her heart. Her influences gave her a template on not only how to write and compose music, they inspired her to be herself.
In her rich and powerful vocal artistry, Shardé pulls from artists like Whitney Houston for her power and resonance, Jill Scott for her soulful vibe and MIssy Elliott for her funky eclectic style. Her grit and heart came from years of perseverance. Looking to her influencers and staying true to self kept her focused and inspired. These influences have shaped her philosophy on being an artist. She believes that time is your greatest asset. Use it wisely and you can take over the world!

The Frequency was written to help you tap into the amazing manifestation powers that you possess, and how to harness and use them to get exactly what you want. This book is dedicated to the mastery of all your desires. The greatest gift you have been given is your imagination and passion. Everything that has ever existed and will ever exist sits waiting for you simply to love it enough to make it materialize. So often people fail at the art of manifesting because they do not FEEL true passion for what they want. They think they want it, but if they did their would be a love and spark that ignited the frequency to pull it in.
