THE SPECIAL BREW CREW Feb 21, 2024
    Show notes

For 20 years, we used to revel in bonhomie at our favorite haunt, the Montpellier Quarter in Harrogate. We were known as the Montpellier Mice, who were eventually picked off by the birds of prey. The pubs we frequented, the Blues Bar and The Slut and Fetish, are now a thing of the past. Today, we find ourselves caught in the big dry. We lost quite a few friends to that old and filthy drink, but unfortunately, we survived.

    Show notes

A chalk and cheese Husband and wife with very opposing opinions on the arrival of some neo hippie neighbours with their green dream machine .

Big Manchester Pete, the hardest looking man you were ever likely to meet; his face was made for a trick or treat but inside he carried a big old heart that was softer than a boiled swede of sugar beet .

    GREED Feb 17, 2024
    Show notes

Today, the cardinal sin we call greed ultimately originated from our primal need to consume and nourish ourselves while attempting to outrun savage predatory rivals in the life-or-death struggle of our Stone Age survival. Greed also enabled us to establish stronger lineages for the future generations of our species. Later on, religion assumed a leading role and commanded that its newly discovered Christian creed be tamed and followed, so that its voracious heathen spirit could find liberation through abstinence and fasting, ultimately leading to salvation

    VIRGIN SOLDERS Feb 17, 2024
    Show notes

Musing about Lord Kitchener, whose saber-rattling speeches turned into sermons that garnered rapturous applause in Whitehall and Westminster. Unfortunately, his young, inexperienced soldiers were dying at a rate of 6,000 a day. He had "avoid wine and women" printed into their guidebooks for war, referring to French prostitutes. With a life expectancy of only 17 hours, contracting a little pox would have been the least of their worries.

    TWO DEGREES Feb 17, 2024
    Show notes

A poem about the complacency of our society, which is tantamount to exuding a kind of trendy triviality towards the forthcoming temperature rise of two degrees. You'd think we were talking about the arrival of a couple of cream teas, not the apocalyptic destruction of our species.

    FOXY FISHER Feb 16, 2024

A short poem for Todd's forth birthday his name means the fox although the only thing I've seen him foraging for are lollipops from the ice box.

    WRATH Feb 16, 2024
    Show notes

The last update of a human brain was in the mid to late stone age hence why we still carry the trait of wrath , some believe it's one of the seven deadly sins whilst others say its an instinct left over from the sapiens savage survival upon the African savannah .

SEVEN SHADES OF SIN Feb 15, 2024
    Show notes

A preacher told me that all of us come pre-packaged with the seven shades of sin, which are basically our primitive seven instincts of survival that were needed while hunter-gathering on the savage African Savannah. Through evolution and ecclesiastical endeavors, we have been trying to adapt our mammalian species to a more sentient state of being ever since.
