    Pod Save The King

New era, new name: Welcome to Pod Save The King, the award-winning Royal podcast from the Daily Mirror.

The Royal family is finding its way in a new era. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, King Charles III began his reign alongside Camilla, The Queen Consort. William and Kate became Prince and Princess of Wales. As the family changes, rifts remain with Harry and Meghan across the Atlantic and Prince Andrew is still in the aftermath of the Newsnight interview. There is joy too, as Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis grow up both in and out of the public eye, and the Tindalls, Beatrice and Eugenie find their own ways.

Expect behind the scenes details, fashion, travel, causes, politics and society, plus interviews with people who can provide a particular insight into your favourite Royals, their work and their place in Britain today.

“Lively discussions with a wide-ranging appeal. Refreshingly informal, totally unstuffy and a thoroughly modern take on all things royal. And it’s funny too.” – the Press Awards Judges, who named Pod Save The King Lifestyle Podcast of the Year.

Your regular companions are Royal Editor Russell Myers and Deputy Royal Editor Jennifer Newton. You can join the conversation about the podcast on Instagram and Twitter for a chance to hear your comments on the show, and follow @MirrorRoyal or subscribe to our Royal Newsletter for all the latest.

    Show notes

Welcome back to a brand-new episode of Pod Save the King! The royals might be off on their summer holidays, but the news cycle certainly hasn't stopped.

This week, Mirror Deputy Royal Editor Jennifer Newton and Royal Reporter Charlotte Foster hold down the fort (while Russell is away!) to break down all the latest drama, fashion, and palace intrigue.

Here is what we are diving into this week:

    • Meghan’s Reality TV Moment: We discuss Meghan’s guest judge appearance on the season 18 semi-final of MasterChef Australia. The episode featured a slightly cringe "surprise" 30-second FaceTime cameo from Prince Harry. Meghan also shared some family dining secrets.

    • A Major Palace Departure: Sir Clive Alderton, the King’s principal private secretary, is stepping down next May. We discuss his massive influence over the past 20 years, from guiding the King through the early days of his reign following the Queen's passing, to navigating recent challenges. Prince Harry might be celebrating his departure, as Jennifer and Charlotte discuss...

Two very different generations of Royals Jul 17, 2026
    Show notes

It has been a whirlwind week in Royal Land! In this episode, host Russell Myers is joined by royal reporter Charlotte Foster to unpack a massive week of developments.

We break down Harry, Meghan, and the children’s highly anticipated trip to the UK—including their low-profile stay at Althorp House and a surprise meeting at Highgrove with the King and Queen.

Why was Camilla there, and what does it mean for the future of royal reconciliations?

Plus, we look at the Duke’s surprisingly candid appearance on Joe Marler’s podcast. From self-deprecating jokes about his "sunset auburn" hair to listing his official occupation as "Prince of England," we discuss the lighter side of Harry that the public rarely gets to see.

Finally, we analyse the post-World Cup statements from both King Charles and Prince William, exploring how their distinct writing styles reflect two very different royal generations.
