The Selfish Giant - PSP18 Jan 10, 2020

Show notes

Happy New Year!
With each new year comes the opportunity for each of us to strive for new goals, new ways of thinking, and true enlightenment. For the team at Planet Storytime, we look forward to continuing to provide amazing stories in 2020 and beyond, and kick this year off with Oscar Wilde's, The Selfish Giant, adapted for the podcast by Thomas Mitchell with music by Pax Stanley. This is a gorgeous story about the importance of overcoming selfishness, learning how to give and serve others, and the kind of magic that happens when you learn to share not only of your things, but of yourself:)
Housekeeping
- The new website is very close to launch! This will provide an easy stop to download episodes, subscribe to the podcast, read our upcoming blog series in the many reasons why we do this show and believe in its power to help strengthen young minds and older ones as well
- Starting with PSP18, we will no longer be adhering to a strict, every Monday schedule, as much of our work in the new year will be focused on the development of new, original material and will, at times, take us longer than a week to produce; we expect our pace will average 3 episodes per month, but don't hold us to that - we may deliver more or less, depending on the material
- We will be returning to the 'Stellar' podcasts which summarize all the previous months' episodes into one episode as these shows have been extrememly popular with our listeners
- We will also be releasing our "Best Planet Storytime Podcasts of 2019" in the weeks ahead which will combine our 10 most popular episodes from 2019
Shoutouts
- We want to say thank you to Daniel Altiere for his time in the past week. Daniel is responsible for some really big kids movie screenplays over the past 10 years, and he was kind enough to spend some time with us this week - thanks, Daniel!
- A big shoutout to Caleb and Carly for becoming our first two official listeners and a huge source of inspiration for our show and two of our most loyal fans!
- A big shoutout to all of our fans worldwide! Our show is now played in 27 countries all around the globe and we want to say thanks to all of you for your support!
Until next time!

Happy Holidays from Planet Storytime!
We hope you get to spend some happy times with friends and family over the current holiday season:) In this episode of the podcast, we wanted to give everyone a story about bravery, love, generosity and living together in harmony to help celebrate the season, and our dear friend, TM Ganim, was kind enough to share yet another one of his amazing stories for this week's show with, The Bear The Light and The Sacred Night! We hope you love it as much as we did.
Also, we wanted to wish everyone a safe and happy winter holiday as we get ready to take a few weeks off to regroup, launch our website, and focus on the content we will be providing on Planet Storytime in 2020. The support everyone has given us has been wonderful and proof to us that we should continue making podcasts for our growing audience:)
We will return with PSP18 on January 13th.
Until next time, take good care of yourselves, enjoy your loved ones, be grateful to have them in your life, and keep using your imagination to see just how powerful your brain truly is!

Hans In Luck - PSP15 Dec 09, 2019

Welcome back to Planet Storytime!
In this episode of the podcast, Thomas Mitchell and Pax Stanley present their adaptation of Hans In Luck, by the Brothers Grimm, a story that reminds us that attitude and perspective play the biggest roles in how we view good/bad luck, and happiness in general. This story was adapted for the podcast by Thomas with all original music by Pax.
On the horizon...
- Our new website rolls out in January which will feature easy access to all of our podcasts, our upcoming blog, interviews with popular children's story creators, and listener-supported-only content, including the music soundtrack for each episode, contests, opinion polls, and much more!
- There are rumors on Planet Storytime that TM Ganim is putting the finishing touches on a new holiday story for us for release later this month...stay tuned!
- We've received several requests for a "Stellar Vocabulary" segment on the podcast. Look for this new section to be included in future episodes and eventually retrofit to ALL of our episodes. We believe young minds thrive when they're stretched ever so slightly, and for our younger listeners, this will give them defnitions for our larger words!
Our podcast continues to grow and we continue to gain new subscribers. We cannot thank all of you enough for your amazing love and support! Thank You!!

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

Greetings!
We hope everyoe had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family! Since we too celebrate Thanksgiving on Planet Storytime, we took the week off from story development to enjoy some quality time with our families and the associated travel took some time away from our storytelling. Our Stellar Podcasts have been a huge hit since many of our listeners like the longer format, and we will continue to produce these every month. We thought now would be a good time to put together our first Stellar Top 5 Episodes Podcast, showcasing our 5 most popular episodes thru our first 3 months:
1) The Tale of Peter Rabbit
2) Crow and Beetle
3) The Tale of The Pumpkin House
4) How The Camel Got His Hump
5) The Queen Bee
In this episode of the podcast, we present each of these episodes (in reverse order) for you in one show, making it great for road trips or even before bedtime. We were happy to see how diverse this list is, with 5 awesome stories from 4 different, amazing authors. We truly hope you enjoy these stories and we look forward to providing a new episode with a newly develped story next Monday, December 9th.
Thanks again for your support, and so long for now!

A Crow and Beetle Thanksgiving - PSP13 Nov 25, 2019

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

In this episode of the podcast, TM Ganim brings us another wonderful story about the need to have perspective in life when considering the numerous things all of us have to be thankful for, from the eyes of our old friends, Crow and Beetle:) This is a great story packed full of great action, themes of comraderie and gratitude, and the need to be mindful of the always present, bigger picture.
We've also noticed that our listeners seem to really like the much longer, Stellar Podcast series we started after September. Given that this is a busy holiday week, we will not be providing a new episode again until Monday, December 9th, so we will be combing our top 5 most popular episodes into one Stellar Top 5 Stories Podcast for PSP14, so be looking for that!
We wish everyone in the Planet Storytime Universe a very happy, Thanksgiving! We truly appreciate your love and support and hope you really enjoy A Crow and Beetle Thanksgiving!

* all music except for "Reckoner's Theme" and "Pace of the Bald Men" (P Stanley), written by Bedřich Smetana; ALL music arranged, recorded, edited and produced by Paxton Stanley.

The Lazy Man and The Squirrel - PSP9 Nov 04, 2019

Show notes

Send us Fan Mail

TM Ganim provides us another great story and this one targets the problem with laziness. As much a lesson for parents as kids, the lazy man shows us the true price of not only laziness and distancing one's self from the work of our team, but how procrastination almost always compounds the problems associated with leaving work to another time.
Thomas and Paxton deliver another great production as the show moves (suddenly!) into its 3rd month of existence.
Thank you to everyone who tuned in to check out last week's, The Tale of The Pumpkin House - we truly hope you enjoyed our first Halloween special! And thank you to all of you for your kind words and endless support! We could not do this without you:)
