PHLY Sixers Postgame: 76ers' cold shooting night leads to loss to Suns Jan 07, 2025
    Show notes

The Philadelphia 76ers (14-20) had an awful shooting night and simply could not overcome the poor team percentage, multiple scoring droughts, missed free throws and the absence of Joel Embiid in their 109-99 loss to the Phoenix Suns (16-18). Back home after a 4-2 six-game trip, the Sixers led at the break by four but the Suns outscored the 76ers 36-27 in the third quarter to build a double-digit lead and did more than enough to secure the win.

Kelly Oubre was really good in his return, putting together a 26-point, 11-rebound double-double with Tyrese Maxey adding team-highs of 31 points and 10 assists. Guerschon Yabusele filled in for Embiid at center and totaled 14 points and 10 boards. Bradley Beal paced Phoenix in scoring with 25 off the bench including 13 in the third.

The PHLY Sixers crew breaks down what went wrong in Philadelphia's 10th home loss of the season.

    Show notes

The Philadelphia ended the west coast portion of their road trip with an absolutely embarrassing defensive performance, falling to Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors 139-105 in their most lopsided loss of the season. The Sixers, who fell to 13-19 on the season after back-to-back losses, will finish off their six game road trip Saturday night in Brooklyn.

The Warriors, who came into the game having lost 13 of their last 17, shot an incredible 22-39 from 3-point range, led by Steph Curry, who finished with a perfect 8-8 from 3-point range on his way to a 30 point night. Jonathan Kuminga added 20 off the bench, and Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins and Dennis Schroder chipped in with 15 each in a balanced Warriors attack.

Joel Embiid led the Sixes with 28 points and 14 rebounds, with most of his damage being done in the third quarter. Paul George added 19, and Tyrese Maxey finished with just 14 points on 4-13 shooting.

PHLY Sixers Postgame: Joel Embiid dominates, Sixers cruise to win over Blazers Dec 31, 2024
    Show notes

The Philadelphia 76ers cruised to their 4th straight win, this one a 125-103 road victory over the Portland Trailblazers on the back of a dominant 37-point, 9 rebound performance from Joel Embiid, who continues to find his groove after missing 16 of the team’s first 20 games. The victory, the Sixers’ 10th win in the last 13 games, improved the Sixers to 13-17 on the season as they look to climb up the Eastern Conference standing after their slow start.

In addition to Embiid the Sixers received big performances from Tyrese Maxey (23 points, 3 assists), Kelly Oubre Jr (15 points, 8 steals) and Guerschon Yabusele (16 points and 4 rebounds off the bench). The Sixers’ defense, led by Kelly Oubre Jr’s eight steals, forced the young Blazers into 24 turnovers. It was a career-high in steals for Oubre, and something that only four players in franchise history have surpassed.

    Show notes

The Philadelphia 76ers picked up their most impressive win of the season with a clutch Christmas Day victory over the Boston Celtics, downing the Celtics thanks to a dominant all-around performance from Tyrese Maxey, who finished with 33 points and 12 assists on the night. Maxey was joined by Caleb Martin, who finished with a career-high seven made 3s on his way to a crucial 23-point performance. After Jaylen Brown, Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics cut the Sixers' 15-point fourth quarter lead down to three with a little over two minutes left, the Sixers stabilized, then made enough free-throws to close out the game in their biggest win of the season.
