Dedeaux Download: Andy Stankiewicz wraps up the 2025 USC baseball season + looking ahead to 2026 Jun 12, 2025
    Show notes

Shotgun Spratling and Kasey Kazliner return on the Dedeaux Download Podcast to wrap up the 2025 USC baseball season with Trojans' head coach Andy Stankiewicz joining the show to provide insights as we look back at a second season on the road for the Trojans with the team not having access to their under-construction home field on campus.

Stankiewicz talks about the Trojans' disappointment with their final two games after being in the Corvallis Regional final and what he talked about with the players after the final game. He also discusses the building blocks the team continues to stack brick by brick as it tries to re-establish itself as one of college baseball's premier programs.

The Trojans' head coach also discusses potentially taking a different path in the NCAA transfer portal from the last couple of seasons after pointing out USC has to get stronger on the mound to be able to compete for a chance to improve upon the 2025 season next year.

After talking with Stankiewicz, Shotgun and Kasey take a look back at the regional and towards the future of the USC program. They also hand out their end-of-season awards. From best hitter and pitcher to most impactful newcomer , Kazliner and Spratling discuss some of the top individual performers and moments of the long season.

Shotgun and Kasey then close by discussing the areas where they believe the Trojans need to attack to make improvements before opening the new Dedeaux Field next spring.

Huge official visit weekend for USC football recruiting plus House settlement Jun 10, 2025
    Show notes

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about what was a massive weekend for Trojan football recruiting with some of the top prospects from across the country descending on Los Angeles to see what USC has to offer. We will get an update on one of the events from Connor, who, along with Chris Trevino, attended a Saturday night dinner in downtown Los Angeles where the Trojan coaching staff was hosting all of their official visitors. Allowing media to attend a recruiting event is a new phenomena and it gave us a rare look behind the curtain of the USC official visit festivities.

The Trojans also picked up another commitment this week, adding to the No. 1 recruiting class for the 2026 cycle. Duluth (Ga.) three-star cornerback Peyton Dyer is the 28th commitment for USC's No. 1 recruiting class and the fifth cornerback commit.

Ryan and Connor also talk about the paradigm shift in college football following the ratification of the House Settlement that allows for back NIL pay to former student athletes, limits roster sizes for all sports, allows athletic departments to share revenue with student athletes directly and creates the College Sports Commission to enforce these new "real NIL" rules. Both Ryan and Connor feel that USC is well positioned heading into this new era of college athletics, but there are certainly unchartered waters ahead.

Last season Abasiri saw action in 10 games on the defensive line and recorded seven total tackles. Will the November 1 trip to Nebraska be the barometer game for the Trojans? May 27, 2025
    Show notes

In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back in studio talking about the 2025 USC football schedule and how the early November trip to Lincoln could be the determining factor for the Trojans having a successful campaign. After finishing the regular season 6-6 in 2024 with no true Big Ten road victories, USC will try to take a huge step forward and be a real factor in the conference title race this season. To do so, the Trojans will need to grind out some tough victories on the road and we are circling that November 1 date against the Cornhuskers as the barometer game for USC.

Looking at the way too early top-25 polls USC will face a few ranked teams on the road including Notre Dame, Oregon and Illinois and face off against Michigan at home. The post-spring SP+ rankings have Notre Dame at No. 6, Oregon at No. 7, Michigan at No. 10, Illinois at No. 19 then Iowa at No. 28 and Nebraska at No. 34 (with USC at No. 30). No other program on the Trojans schedule is in the SP+ top-50.
