The Kurim Case | 101 May 23, 2024

Show notes

Trigger Warning - this episodes contains child abuse
On May 7, 2007, a man in the small town of Kurim, Czech Republic had just set up a new video baby monitor, but when he turned it on, he didn't see his newborn baby. Instead, the signal had crossed with a neighbor and he saw probably one of the most horrific things you can imagine...Thank God for that faulty signal because this would finally expose the shocking crimes of the Mauerova sisters. This may be the darkest story we've ever covered but I just couldn't get over the twists & turns.

Missy Avila | 98 May 02, 2024

Show notes

*DISCLAIMER - Rebecca's an idiot and forgot to connect her microphone to our recording platform so she sounds more echoey than usual. You would think after 98 episodes, we would have this down but you'd be wrong.

On October 1, 1985, 17-year-old Michele "Missy" Avila went out with her friend, Laura Doyle. Hours later, the Avila's phone rings and it's Laura asking to speak to Missy. Mrs. Avila's heart sank because she assumed they were still together but Laura explained that Missy saw some guys she knew and left with them in a blue camaro. Three days later, a hiker found her deep in Angeles National Forest face down in a stream with a log across the back of her neck. The creepiest part: all of her hair was cut off. The case goes cold for 3-years until a witness comes forward with a shocking (and infuriating) tale.

Kit Martin | 97 Apr 25, 2024

Show notes

Joan Harmon had had a very rough couple of years until 2004 when she met & married Christian "Kit" Martin. Kit was a well respected army major and when the two finally settled in Pembroke, Kentucky, life was good...until it wasn't. After their divorce, Cal & Pam Phillips take Joan in until she gets back on her feet. As she's moving out, she finds something very damning & the story goes downhill from there. A lot of crime takes place, including a triple murder. We may need to have a debate on this one...

Ray Wright | 95 Apr 11, 2024

Show notes

On January 11, 2018, 55-year-old Ray Wright vanished without a trace. He had no reason to leave. After all, his family said he was in the best place of his life. Fearing the worst, his brother went to his house to check on him and walked in on an intruder. A few days later, Sacramento police were led on a high speed chase, seemingly unrelated to Ray's case. But when they searched the evader's van, they found a treasure trove of evidence and a motive nobody saw coming.
