Wrestling With Life’s Hardest Questions Sep 24, 2026
    Show notes

Why does God allow suffering? Why would God allow children and babies to suffer? How do we trust God when life feels deeply unfair?

In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, Pastors Daryl Black and Hal Mayer wrestle with some of the hardest questions Christians ask about pain, loss, heaven, evil, and the character of God.

They talk honestly about why suffering exists, what the Bible gives us reason to believe about children and heaven, and why faith doesn’t require us to pretend we have every answer. If you’ve ever wondered where God is in the middle of tragedy, this conversation is for you.

    Jesus, I Don’t Understand Sep 17, 2026
    Show notes

What do you do when you have questions about Jesus that you can’t fully explain? In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, Pastor Hal and Pastor Nate tackle some of the questions Christians are actually asking, from whether followers of Jesus should play Grand Theft Auto 6 to how we should think about the things we allow into our lives. They also unpack the Trinity, what it means that God is one God in three persons, and why it’s okay to admit, “I understand that I don’t understand.”
Then they dig into one of Jesus’ most misunderstood moments on the cross: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” Was Jesus talking to Himself? Was He separated from God? And why was He quoting Psalm 22? We also talk about sharing your faith when your friends still don’t believe, why your job isn’t to convince them, and how to turn doubt into curiosity instead of letting it pull you away from God. Questions aren’t something Christians need to be afraid of. Bring them to God. Dig into Scripture. Keep talking.

What If We Got Dinosaurs Wrong? Sep 10, 2026
    Show notes

Can you trust the Bible and still take science seriously? In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, we tackle some of the biggest questions Christians ask about creation, evolution, dinosaurs, the shape of the earth, and whether science actually supports or contradicts faith.

Are dinosaurs real? Did they live alongside humans? Is the earth flat? Can Christians believe in evolution? What does Genesis actually teach about creation? And does scientific evidence point away from God or toward a Creator?

We also talk about cremation, biblical evidence, apologetics, and why Christians shouldn’t be afraid to ask hard questions or dig deeper into what they believe.
If you’ve ever wrestled with science and Christianity, evolution and the Bible, dinosaurs in Scripture, creation, or whether there is real evidence for God, this episode is for you.

Why Aren’t My Prayers Working? Sep 03, 2026
    Show notes

Why does it sometimes feel like your prayers aren’t working? Are you praying the wrong thing, using the wrong words, or asking with the wrong motives?
In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, we take a deep dive into prayer and tackle some of the questions Christians wrestle with most. What makes a prayer powerful? What does the Bible mean by the “prayer of a righteous person”?
Does praying with more people make a difference? And what do you do when God doesn’t answer the way you hoped?
We also unpack why prayer isn’t a formula for getting what you want from God. It’s about dependence, relationship, and trusting that God is still working even when you can’t see it.

Are We Living in the End Times? Aug 27, 2026
    Show notes

The end times raise some of the biggest questions Christians have. When will the rapture happen? Will believers go through the tribulation? What is the mark of the beast, and are we already seeing signs of what’s coming?
In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, Melissa sits down with Pastor Hal to unpack what the Bible actually says about the rapture, tribulation, Antichrist, and the mark of the beast. They break down pre-trib, mid-trib, and post-trib views, why Christians can disagree on the details, and why we should be careful about turning every headline or new technology into an end-times prediction.
Because Revelation wasn’t given to make us live in fear or obsess over figuring out the exact timeline. It was given to remind us that Jesus wins, and until He returns, we still have a mission right in front of us.
Let us know in the comments what song you think Pastor Hal should "roll" in to next time!

When “It’s Not a Big Deal” Becomes a Big Deal Aug 20, 2026
    Show notes

Compromise rarely starts with a big decision. Most of the time, it begins with something small enough to excuse, ignore, or call “not a big deal.”

In this episode of The Pastors’ Hangover, Pastor Daryl breaks down the warnings to the churches in Pergamum and Thyatira and what they reveal about compromise in our own lives. From what we watch and scroll to isolation, community, and the things we slowly learn to tolerate, we talk about how small compromises can shape us over time without us even realizing it.

Plus, we unpack some of the harder questions in Revelation, including the hidden manna and the “deep things of Satan.” Because the things we call harmless today can quietly shape who we become tomorrow.

You Can Do Church and Still Miss Jesus Aug 13, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of the Pastors Hangover, Pastor Daryl Black breaks down the Church in Ephesus and one of the most sobering warnings in Revelation: you can do all the right church things and still miss Jesus.

We talk about what it means to lose your first love, why Jesus cares more about devotion than activity, and how easy it is to serve, worship, lead, and stay busy while slowly drifting from the One it was all supposed to be about.

We also dive into the meaning of the seven lampstands, what Jesus meant when He warned the church about losing its effectiveness, whether someone can forfeit salvation, and why Revelation is meant to shape the way we live right now, not just make us curious about the end times.

This conversation is a reminder that faith isn't about chasing a feeling. It's about staying intentional, staying close, and keeping Jesus at the center.

    In this episode:

    • What it really means to lose your first love
    • Why doing church isn't the same as following Jesus
    • The warning to the Church in Ephesus
    • What the lampstands represent
    • Can you lose or forfeit your salvation?
    • Why devotion matters more than emotion
    • How to recognize spiritual drift
    • Why Revelation still matters for everyday faith

If your faith has started to feel routine, distant, or overly focused on activity, this episode is a call to remember, repent, and return.

AI, Gen Z & Leadership That Outlives You Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Great leadership is not just about what you accomplish. It is about who you prepare to lead after you.
In this episode, the team discusses what it looks like for different generations to run together, use their unique gifts, and pass the baton without abandoning the race. They unpack mentorship, succession, character development, and why young leaders should chase growth instead of titles or recognition.
They also explore how Gen Z and the church should approach artificial intelligence. AI can improve efficiency and provide information, but it can never replace wisdom, spiritual discernment, meaningful work, or genuine human connection.
Whether you are leading a church, building a business, mentoring someone younger, or preparing for your own next season, this conversation will challenge you to build leadership that lasts beyond you.

Can You Lose Your Salvation? The Question We Can’t Agree On Jul 30, 2026
    Show notes

Can you lose your salvation? Is “once saved, always saved” actually biblical? And what happens when someone once followed Jesus but later walked away?
In this episode of the Pastors’ Hangover, the team tackles one of the biggest questions Christians continue to debate. They explore salvation as a gift, the role of free will, what it means to truly follow Jesus, and how we can trust God when we do not have clear answers about someone’s eternity.
The conversation also moves beyond what we are saved from and looks at what we are saved for. Salvation is not only about going to heaven one day. It gives us a new purpose, a new story, and a responsibility to share the hope of Jesus with the people around us.
Whether your testimony feels dramatic or ordinary, God can use it. You do not need all the right words or a perfect understanding of every theological question. You simply need to remain open, available, and willing to share what God has done in your life.
Can You Lose Your Salvation? The Question We Can’t Agree On is an honest conversation about faith, doubt, heaven, purpose, and learning to trust Jesus with the questions we cannot fully answer.

How to Stop Hiding What God Wants to Heal Jul 23, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of the Pastors’ Hangover, the team has an honest conversation about the struggles people often feel pressured to keep hidden. From addiction and mental health to shame, isolation, and the fear of being exposed, they unpack what happens when we stop pretending we are okay and start inviting trusted people into the truth.
They also talk about why secrecy gives our struggles more power, how real community can help us find freedom, and why the church should be one of the safest places to be honest about what we are walking through. Healing does not always happen instantly, and it rarely happens alone, but freedom can begin the moment we decide we are done hiding.
This conversation is a reminder that your struggle does not disqualify you, your past does not have to define you, and you do not have to carry everything by yourself. God can use your story, your honesty, and even the parts of your life you wish no one knew about.
Stop hiding what God wants to heal.
