I grill him on the contentious topics, some of the controversies and put your questions to him - including the big one "Why don't they just change the name to popular music Hall of Fame??"

They helped invent British reggae and their debut single "Ku Klux Klan: is definitely one of the great punk singles, without actually being a punk record. AllMusicPodcasts 94: "Sam Cooke: Live at The Harlem Square Club, 1963" with Colin Fleming Feb 12, 2022
    Show notes

Shelved for over 20 years, Sam Cooke's Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963, stands alongside Otis Redding's Live in Europe and James Brown's Live at the Apollo as one of the greatest live soul albums ever made. It is a musical, spiritual, emotional, and social journey played out over one night on the stage of a sweaty Miami club.

Author Colin Fleming joins us to talk about the importance of this album and Sam Cooke, who was an astute businessman, a writer of timeless songs, and an agent of social change along the lines of Billie Holiday and Bob Dylan. Tune in!

The Band: A History - The Last Waltz - Part Four Feb 12, 2022
    Show notes

“It hadn’t really hit me that when the song was over, so was The Band.” Levon Helm later remembered as The Band stumbled from the Winterland stage at 3:00 AM following one of the biggest shows of their lives.

However, it wasn't over. After combining through footage it was determined they needed to film additional content. Thus, The Last Waltz Suite was born. A combination of live recordings on the MGM soundstage featuring The Staple Singers and Emmylou Harris and studio recordings including all-new material.

It was a confusing time, a group that had at the very least said they were publically finished, kept working away on material but they were drifting apart. Each member began to work on various projects as if the band they had put over a decade into didn’t exist anymore. They rather neglect the elephant in the room rather than fully deal with band politics.

The Band: A History is produced, written and hosted by Tyrell William Lisson with additional research and writing by Alex McGillivray and post-production sound and editing by Michael Koehler.
