Pamela Des Barres' Pajama Party with Todd Snider Apr 29, 2021

Show notes

People often ask me who I'm listening to on my Rock Tours and I start spilling about a longtime hero of mine, singer/songwriter/ storyteller Todd Snider. His crazy genius heart and wild-assed soul are always front and center in his music. He pours it all out with self-deprecating humor and a uncanny understanding of humanity's frustrations and foibles. He's a true rebel with a capital R. I drive hundreds of miles to see him play on a regular basis. I'm overjoyed to be his friend.

Walter Egan had a huge hit with Magnet and Steel, featuring Stevie Nicks, then again with Hot Summer Nights. The first time Gram Parsons sang with Emmy Lou Harris was in his kitchen. Walter was in a later Burrito Bros incarnation. And yes written an entire unrequited love album about me !

Pamela Des Barres' Pajama Party with Alex Winter Jan 29, 2021

Show notes

Welcome Alex!

Alex Winter is a director, writer and actor who has worked across film, television and theater.

Winter entered show business as a child actor with co-starring roles on Broadway in The King & I and Peter Pan, and came to prominence in movies such as Warner Bros’ hit The Lost Boys and the wildly popular Bill & Ted franchise. As a filmmaker, Winter’s narrative features include the cult classic Freaked, for 20th Century Fox and the critically acclaimed Fever, for Lionsgate, which screened in the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes.

I was lucky to be part of the just completed. Zappa, the first all-access documentary on the life and times of Frank Zappa. The Kickstarter campaign for this project was the highest funded documentary in crowdfunding history. Zappa was released on November 27 from Magnolia Pictures to widespread critical acclaim. A Critics Pick in the New York Times, Zappa was nominated for Best Music Documentary by the Critics Choice Awards.

Show notes

Today Dolls, the incredible Luke Spiller from the band The Struts!

Luke Spiller epitomizes the kind of rock god that had me swooning back in the day. Sigh.

He makes me want to shave off a few decades. Sigh again.

We had such a delicious, delightful chat- me in LA -Luke in the UK, about The Struts' steamy rockin hotcha new album, Strange Days. Indeed.

Show notes

Here's Dave!

Dave Alvin, one of my eternal faves, from the seminal LA band the Blasters to his endless brilliant journeyman excursions with other eclectic musicians, I've joyously followed his career.

And his fearless, raucous guitar-playing is orgasmic.
