    We have on the phone Erin Stanfield, Face of the Globe 2016. In April, finalists from all over the world competed in the grand finals of Face of the Globe. The finalists attended numerous events over the week in both London and Paris, accumulating in a spectacular finale in Disneyland Paris, where Erin Stanfield captured the international title and was crowned Face of the Globe 2016! Erin, welcome to the call! What did you focus on when preparing for the international competition? How did you mentally prepare? What are the keys to packing to compete internationally? How did you decide what to bring? What item under $20 was a must have for your during competition week? You were judged in 3 areas of interview: Publicity/Appearance Interview, Character Interview & Informal Interview. How are these areas different and what are the judges looking for? What is your advice for connecting with the judges and making a lasting impression? You were also judged on your work with your charity. You personally helped raise quite a bit of money. How much did you raise? What is the key to raising funds and making an impact with yourvolunteer service? You were also judged on your public speaking skills.     What You Need to Do to Get Swimsuit Ready Jul 18, 2016

    On today’s call we have on the phone Katie Boyd. Katie Boyd is the owner of the Miss Fit Club in Hudson, New Hampshire. Katie has over 20 years of pageant experience and has been a personal trainer for 16 years. She is an Expert Rated Certified Sports Nutritionist and holds a Personal Training Certification through International Sports Sciences Association and a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science from the University of Massachusetts. Katie has been closely involved for the past ten years with the Massachusetts, Vermont, Connecticut, Maine and New Hampshire USA pageants. In 2015, she created the Miss Fit Contest that will soon be turning into a pageant. Katie has been voted as the top fitness trainer by The Pageant Planet! Does everyone need a trainer? If so, why? What about the girls who go out and purchase those workout DVDs? Will their end results differ? What do girls need to look for when choosing a trainer? What sets you apart from other trainers?     How to Find the Perfect Gown for your Budget and Body Type Jul 11, 2016

    We have on today’s show Tracie La Turno of That’s My Dress Bridal and Prom! That’s My Dress is one of the largest individual full-service bridal, prom and formal wear salons in central and southwest Virginia. That’s My Dress is all about Affordable Luxury. They offer their customers designer gowns at pricing they can afford. You have gowns in all price ranges, but is it always better to go with the more expensive gown if you can afford it? Do you think a more expensive gown can influence the scoring of the judges? If a girl wants an expensive gown but can’t afford it, can she achieve the same look in a less expensive gown? How often can you wear a competition evening gown before you should purchase a new one? What is the biggest mistake you see girls doing when choosing a pageant gown? Can a prom gown be worn for a pageant? (what type of prom gowns work best as a cross over gown) In your opinion do girls have a better chance of winning if they wear white? What styles are out of date or overly done? What colors and styles will we be seeing on the pageant stage this summer? What do you anticipate seeing on the Miss USA stage?     Secret to Taking a Winning Pageant Headshot Jun 06, 2016

    Krisna Goodwin of Goodwin Photography is no stranger to the planet of pageantry. She has directed a Miss America preliminary for many years and has seen the opportunities that pageants have opened for ladies’ lives and for that, she is humbled to be apart of the industry. Krisna’s work has been published in magazines, recognized by national blogs and she has been asked to photograph famous faces. You’ve seen what it takes to be a winner and you say that headshots are always on top of the list. How do you shoot your clients to get them noticed by a panel of judges? How do you make sure ladies are branding themselves with their photos and not just taking pictures? Tell us about your style of shooting. What sets you apart from other photographers? What types of outfit and jewelry should clients bring to their session? Do you recommend certain colors or necklines? Many ladies are worried that their headshots will not look like themselves. How do you ensure your clients will still look like themselves? What do you recommend in terms of hair and makeup? Does it depend upon the pageant system that is being entered?     How to Succeed at Miss Teen of America with Corrie Hayes May 23, 2016

    Corrie Hayes is the first representative from Iowa to win the national Miss Teen of America title and at at the age of 17! If you’re not familiar with The Miss Teen of America Scholarship and Recognition Pageant it’s like no other pageant out there. This system prides itself on recognizing the academic and leadership accomplishments of young women across America. The Miss Teen of America Pageant is not a beauty pageant and here to tell us how you can become the next Miss Teen of America and what’s different about the system is Corrie Hayes.

    Below are the questions that we asked Corrie during the interview:

    Tell us what makes Miss Teen of America different from other pageants? Interview Miss Teen of America has six distinct categories of judging. The area the holds the most weight is interview (25%). What types of questions are asked? The judges are looking for the overall ability in human relations. What is the best way to express that to the judges? What else are the judges looking for during interview? How did you prepare for interview? Knowing what you know now, would you change how prepared for interview? If so what would you do differently? Scholastic Achievement 15% of your score comes from scholastic achievement. What is taken into consideration and what should be highlighted to the judges? Service & Achievement Another 15% of your score comes from service and achievement to your school and community. How is your service and achievement presented to the judges (resume)? What types of involvement and contributions should be listed if the contestant wants to wow the judges? Personal Development Personal development (15%) is also taken into consideration by the judges. What information should be given to the judges? What is the best way to convey that you are a well-rounded individual? Written Test At the pageant, each candidate is also given a written test (15%) designed to measure her awareness of the world around her. What types of questions can be asked on the test? Is this a long test? How many questions are there? Is there a way to prepare for this test? Evening Wear The last portion of judging is personality, projection and poise in evening wear (15%). What is the best way to express your personality, poise and naturalness on stage? The judges are also looking for a positive teen image. How does one reflect that in evening gown? Advice What is the best advice you can give girls hoping to become the next Miss Teen of America? What type of girl is the Miss Teen of America system looking for to represent their system (ages, qualities, etc.)?
