Ep 241 - Important Time Travel Update (Jarad Schofer) Jul 06, 2020

Friends, look how long we delayed Farley from getting to the agenda today. Its not a contest but if it was, we did really well this week. In addition to a delayed table setting, we open the show talking about the blue vs orange kishy fitness challenge and make a PTN social media announcement. We are joined at (10:31) by our guest Jarad Schofer, a local runner who set out last fall to run every street and alley in Washington D.C. We start off in familiar territory, discussing the correct pronunciation of our guests last name. At (12:45) we jump right into the discussion about running all the streets in DC. Ep 240 - Team Orange Forever (Ross Martinson) Jun 30, 2020

At (47:45) we talk about the cancellation of the New York City Marathon this fall. At (54:53) the Farleys share a scary personal story. At (1:04:25) Farleys internet sleuths tip him off to a Docs reference on another podcast and gives him an idea on how Julie might forge through future PTN episodes.

Ep 239 - Sunday in German (Stephen Rutgers) Jun 22, 2020

At (26:23) the foundation helps Pacers with a tshirt and then we get back to the Blade Foundation and discuss the Washington Blade some more. Ep 238 - Forever in Blue Jeans (Johnny Gregorek) Jun 17, 2020

We start off the show paying attention to Docs which is how we should start every show. At (9:26) we are joined by Asics Runner and World Record Holder in the Jeans Mile Johnny Gregorek. We start off talking about his training over the last few months and whats coming up. At (12:51) Johnny talks about his relationship with Asics, and then training with NYTC and his coaches, including some Gags stories. At (16:50) Johnny talks about the charity component of his Blue Jean mile, the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and running the race in memory of his younger brother Patrick. At (21:54) we ask about working with Levis and how he prepared for a Blue Jeans Mile. At (26:06) we talk about the cool spikes that Asics made special for the event. At (27:10) Johnny talks about the race. At (31:18) we ask Johnny to weigh in on running bits. At (34:32) we ask about Johnnys current running cycle and how he has adapted to the Olympic postponement. At (38:00) we talk about his running genes, pun very much intended, and then at (42:58) Farley puts his foot in his mouth and it does not get edited out and then Docs asks a couple of questions. We are back at (51:14) to wrap up the interview and highlight Farleys faux pas. At (52:50) we discuss an article that explained the IOCs position that athletes taking a knee during the Olympics will face a ban, at (54:55) Nascar bans the Confederate flag at their events and their social media response to a lesser known racer who retired over the rule and at (58:36) US Soccer reverses its policy on its athletes knelling during the anthem. At (1:04:45) this weeks rant from Docs. Docs, a FT Bragg native, finds it ridiculous that US Military installations are named after Confederate Generals on the premise that Confederate Generals were the enemy of the US Army. We close out at (1:10:30) with an update on the Brown University decision to demote the Mens Track and Field Team.

Ep 237 - Powdered Feet (Alison Desir) Jun 10, 2020

It doesnt take long in the opening for Docs to be his usual Debbie Downer, but as we discuss current news Docs and Julie have hope. At (11:00) we are joined by our guest Alison Desir, a political activist, endurance athlete, mental health advocate and founder of Harlem Run. We start off talking a little about New York and how having a ten month old has helped keep Alison present in the moment with everything going on. At (14:30) we touch on current events, and then go back and talk about how she got her start in running and how it has integrated with social activism. At (22:30) we ask Alison for advice on how to get Pacers to live For Every Run. At (36:24) we talk about her article in Outside and then shift gears at (42:29) and ask if motherhood has influenced her activism. At (44:20) we ask how we can move forward and then at (44:20) we circle back to her running. We are back to wrap up the interview at (49:56) and offer some audio listening advice for Julie. At (51:22) we talk about the world record jeans mile by Johnny Gregorek, the charity tie-in and weigh in on whether its a good bit, bad bit or a bit at all. Then at (57:17) Docs wants to talk about some recent trail etiquette observations, surprisingly giving kudos, before at (1:01:41) we talk about the crazy incident on the capital crescent trail and how people on social media misidentified the aggressor. We close out the show at (1:06:23) by admonishing Brown University for cutting its Mens Track program, and our story was clearly leaked because just before press time, Brown has reversed their decision most likely due to pending PTN pressure, however we will keep the segment in the show for future historians and people that want an extra fifteen minutes added onto their run.

    Ep 236 - Bits (Raymond Weeden) May 24, 2020

We start off somehow talking about the German Bundesliga. At (8:45) we are joined by our good friend and Executive Director of the Thurgood Marshall Academy Raymond Weeden. As a bonus segment, you are not required to listen to this podcast in order to retain PTN super fan status.
