Outlander: 8.07 — Evidence of Things Not Seen Recap & Reaction (WTF Are We Doing Here?) May 09, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary and Blake break down Outlander 8.07, "Evidence of Things Not Seen."

And yes — this one gets heated.

On the one hand, there is a lot here that really works: Jamie and Claire living under the shadow of Frank's book, Lord John once again proving he is the only adult in the room, the emotional devastation of Fergus' death, and some genuinely strong scene work from Toni Graphia.

On the other hand… the Faith reveal.

Mary and Blake dig into why this episode feels so split against itself, why the Faith/Master Raymond/Jane/Fanny twist swallows everything else around it, and why Blake thinks this is not really a Toni Graphia failure at all — but a larger Matt Roberts showrunner problem.

    They also discuss:

    • why Fergus' death lands so hard
    • why Lord John remains the MVP
    • why William is still a mess
    • why the show's emotional contract may now be in danger
    • and whether Outlander can still salvage this storyline by choosing tragedy over restoration

And yes, there is also talk of Italian grinders, banana peppers, zombie Faith, and whether this show has officially entered Planet Zippy.

Outlander 8.06 Listener Feedback — The Women Are Strong, The Men Are Just Sort Of There Apr 19, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary & Blake go through your listener feedback for Outlander Season 8 Episode 6, "Blessed Are the Merciful."

And yes — a few clear themes emerged.

A lot of listeners felt this was the strongest episode of the season so far, with huge praise for Jamie giving the land to the wives, Rachel's emotional strength, and the show finally feeling a little more like old-school Outlander again. At the same time, there was one near-universal opinion: the Roger and Bree sex scene did not work for basically anyone.

    We also get into:

    • why Hiram Crombie might actually be the original bad penny
    • why Rachel won a lot of people over in this episode
    • why Swiftest of Lizards and Rollo's grandpuppy stole hearts
    • why some listeners think the women carried the whole hour
    • and why the fandom is very much still side-eyeing Amaranthus

Plus: voicemails from all over, a great theory about Master Raymond, one delightful challenge about convincing a new viewer to keep watching Outlander, and a whole lot of love from the Nerd Clan.

Spoiler warning: this episode contains full spoilers for Outlander Season 8 Episode 6, "Blessed Are the Merciful." We are spoiler free for the books, but not for the TV series.

Outlander 8.06 — "Blessed Are the Merciful" Recap & Reaction Apr 18, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary & Blake break down Outlander Season 8 Episode 6, "Blessed Are the Merciful."

This is the first episode in a while that feels like the season stops simmering and starts to boil. We talk about why Jamie's mercy is not softness, why keeping Cunningham alive turns him into a living warning, and why giving the land to the wives is the smartest move in the episode. We also get into Rachel's emotional generosity, Roger's too-neat revelation, William and Ben's messy showdown, and why Major Ferguson now feels like the real storm on the horizon.

We also discuss: - why this all somehow goes back to The Godfather - why Jamie's choice works because both options are good and bad - why Rachel may quietly be the MVP of the hour - why the Roger and Bree intimacy scene absolutely did not work for us - and why mercy, in this episode, feels more like pressure than peace

Spoiler warning: this episode contains full spoilers for Outlander Season 8 Episode 6, "Blessed Are the Merciful." We are spoiler free for the books, but not for the TV series.

Outlander 8.05 Listener Feedback: Buck Love, Ben Chaos, and Amaranthus Distrust Apr 12, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary & Blake dive into your listener feedback for Outlander Season 8, Episode 5, "Send for the Devil."

This week's conversation is all about Buck MacKenzie becoming the unexpected hero of the hour, Ben returning alive and detonating the William and Amaranthus storyline, Claire and Elspeth delivering one of the strongest scenes of the season, and the growing feeling that Season 8 is both overwhelming and underwhelming at the same time.

We also get into your thoughts on:

    • Roger's battlefield storyline and that letter to Bree
    • the pacing and structure of the season so far
    • whether Cunningham really worked as a villain
    • why so many viewers are completely out on Amaranthus
    • Buck's popularity surge
    • Faith theories, ghost Jamie theories, and plenty of outlandish speculation

Plus, listener emails, comments, and voicemails from all over the world as we break down what the fandom is loving, questioning, and side-eyeing after Episode 5.

    Show notes

    In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary and Blake react to listener feedback for Outlander Season 8 Episode 4, "Muskets, Liberty, and Sauerkraut." The fandom is clearly split: some listeners thought this was the best episode of the season so far, while others agreed with Blake that it felt more like a setup hour than a true turning-point episode. Along the way, Mary and Blake get into the big Fergus/Comte reveal, Buck's return, the Claire/Fanny/Faith thread, William and Amaranthus making everybody uncomfortable, and Roger once again finding himself in chaos. :contentReference[oaicite:5]{index=5}

    This is one of those great feedback episodes where the full Outlander community really shows up. There are reactions from book readers, show watchers, longtime listeners, first-time callers, and listeners from all over — including Scotland, Portugal, Norway, Oregon, Texas, Pennsylvania, and more. If you want a real cross-section of how people are feeling about Episode 4, this is the one. :contentReference[oaicite:6]{index=6}

Outlander Season 8 Episode 4 (S8E4) "Muskets, Liberty, and Sauerkraut" Recap & Reaction Apr 05, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary and Blake break down Outlander Season 8 Episode 4, "Muskets, Liberty, and Sauerkraut," and ask the big question: does Fergus learning he may be the Comte St. Germain's son actually deepen the season, or is it just classic premium-grade Outlander soap? They dig into Fergus and Marsali, Buck's surprise return, Lord John continuing to be one of the most human characters on the board, the Claire/Fanny/Faith thread the show keeps teasing, and why Jamie and Ian's goodbye works better as a scene than the prayer that follows it.

Mary comes in much hotter on the episode than Blake, so there's real disagreement in this one too. They also get into why William and Amaranthus feel completely out of pocket right now, whether Percy is telling the truth, and why Roger keeps getting thrown into chaos every five minutes.

    Mary's Kilt Rating: 4.8 / 5 Blake's Kilt Rating: 3.99 / 5

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary & Blake hand the mic to the fandom and dig into your reactions to Outlander 8.03, "Abies Fraseri."

And the verdict? There's definitely a split on Claire's blue-light moment — but when it comes to the "Faith might have lived" angle, the audience is not having it. Not even a little.

We get into your Kilt Ratings, your GBGs, your takes on Bree's reaction to learning about Claire and Lord John, the growing skepticism around Cunningham, and why so many of you thought William and Amaranthus gave us one of the strongest scenes of the episode.

Plus: your Outlandish Theories came in hot this week — including Ghost Jamie, the stones, and whether the season is setting us up for something much stranger than a straightforward King's Mountain payoff.

Outlander Cast: Outlander 8.03 "Abies Fraseri" Recap & Reaction Mar 23, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary & Blake break down Outlander 8.03, "Abies Fraseri" — an hour that gives us some of the season's best character work and one of its biggest mythology swings.

Claire's blue-light moment officially enters the chat, and let's just say… Mary and Blake are not exactly on the same page about it.

We dig into whether the reveal works, why Jamie and Claire's fight feels messy in the best possible way, why Fanny continues to be one of the strongest emotional additions to the show, and why William and Amaranthus might have the most subtext-heavy scene of the episode. We also talk about Cunningham finally stepping out of the background and into full-on threat territory on Fraser's Ridge.

    In this episode, we discuss:

    - Claire's blue-light healing moment and what it may mean - Why Jamie's jealousy feels petty in exactly the right way - The emotional fallout for Fanny - William and Amaranthus's loaded waistcoat scene - Cunningham's reveal and what it means for the Ridge - Our latest Outlandish Theories, including one very big prediction about Jamie

    Mary gives "Abies Fraseri" a 4.75 / 5. Blake gives it a 3.95 / 5.

    Outlander Season 8 Episode 2 (S8E2) "Prophecies" Listener Feedback Mar 20, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of Outlander Cast, Mary and Blake react to your thoughts on Frank's voice in Jamie's head, the sheer insanity of Amy's bear attack, whether Jamie and Claire's intimate scene was about connection or claiming, and why Captain Cunningham and Benjamin Cleveland are setting off every possible alarm bell.

We also get into: - whether Frank is psychologically wrecking Jamie - if the bear attack worked or felt too contrived - why some of you loved the bees and others were more locked into the Ben mystery - whether William's storyline is finally getting interesting - and if the show is doing a long goodbye for Jamie… or just making everybody panic too early

Plus: - theories about Lord John possibly dying this season - a cursed Frank book / Black Jack overlap theory - a possible time-travel connection to the bees - and one firm plea from Blake to please, for the love of all that is holy, not bring Rob Cameron back
