What conversation did Lisa-Jo and Christie have that started 14 years ago about a small God?
Is the Storyteller feeling sketchy to you too sometimes?
You’re allowed to wail and ask questions to God through suffering. Jesus was "acquainted with grief," just like us. Suffering isn't a sign of failure.
Sometimes you need a friend to hold the rope of hope, when we've lost all strength.
God doesn't say "I can't use her because she's in the fetal position."
Rom 5:3-5: "Suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character hope. And hope does not put us to shame because God's love has been poured out..."

174. Why Hope IS a Strategy Mar 30, 2022

The Bible says humans plan their course but God directs their paths.
We as a people believe in needing to be rescued, even though it's utterly vulnerable and uncomfortable.
C.S. Lewis writes in Mere Christianity, "Hope is one of the theological virtues...hope is not a form of wishful thinking or escapism."
Does hope mean for you as it does in the Hebrew translation, the cord that binds you to God? Your mind will be blown by how it connects to Rahab!
Christ is holding us and he is the rope. If we let go, He won't.
In 1 Corinthians 13 it says faith, hope and love remains. We can't dismiss it. Hope is eternal.
Hope isn't a feeling. God wants Shalom in us.

When we are confronted with real world darkness, what do we do?
We don't have to create art that will hang in a museum. Lisa-Jo states that, "Art can be a crossing guard, doctor, chef, writer, mom raising humans or a grandpa tending to his friends at the nursing home. It is art because we have the nature of God in us."
Curt Thompson explains, "We are people with great longing...it is in our DNA to create things..we don't want to create things of mediocrity but evil wants to disrupt all of that and in that trauma we become people of great grief."
