Near Death Experiences May 11, 2026

This week I have two guests, Zach Tavcar and Fran Bailey. Where we discuss their near death experiences.

Zach Tavcar was born in Reno, Nevada.

He has always had an innate feeling of wanting to be an example, and of service, to others since his earliest memories. As he grew into adolescence he began to diminish this inner guidance, not fully comprehending the importance of this inner yearning.

At 14, Zach was diagnosed with leukemia. Throughout the 10 months of intensive treatment Zach found an inner strength, with the incredible support of his family, in which he unconsciously realized the power of human potential. However, at 16, Zach relapsed. His treatment was much different the second time; it was more difficult because he had a bone-marrow transplant, but more importantly, because he watched as young children, 6 months old to 18 years old, and their parents and family members, suffered immensely. The suffering he observed, the death, the pain, caused Zach to enter on to the path he is now continuing to walk. His asking of, "WHY?!" has been the greatest quest-ion he could have ever asked. Why are these children suffering, why are these parents suffering, why are we all suffering, and how can we reduce this suffering? Zach has found many answers to his questions and continues to awaken each day the deeper understandings of the heart, in which we all have the answers to our questions.

Zach's passion for helping others through his knowledge on nutrition and exercise was cultivated in part by his avid athletics throughout the entirety of his childhood and adolescence. As Zach continued his universal asking, he began to remember a deeper knowing and wanted to help others through his ability to teach them how to heal their bodies and minds as he did. As he remembered from authors, teachers, and unbeknownst guru's, Zach realized a healthy and fulfilling life not only includes proper nutrition, physical activity, healthy relationships with friends, family, and lovers, but most importantly a healthy mind and outlook towards life, a deeper understanding which we all possess.

Fran Bailey

At age 12, Fran Bailey had a remarkable Near-Death Experience (NDE). That same year, she also had an extraordinary encounter with non-human intelligences that profoundly changed her life, sparking a spiritual journey that transformed her understanding of existence and, she says, enabled her to heal herself from stage-4 cancer.

As a child, Fran’s world was surrounded in music, dance, singing and believing in positive thought and philosophy. Her connection with the metaphysical world was a natural state of being. She started at the age of 4 dancing in a barn with a ballet barre she could never reach, but it didn’t matter ~ she was hooked. There was something about expressing emotions, moving energy with her body that fit like a glove.

Fran went on to receive a BFA in dance, and for many years performed, choreographed, and taught children, adults, private and group classes. Fran still performs when she gets the chance.

Her interest and training in energy healing started about 16 years ago, with world–renowned energy healer, Rosalyn L. Bruyere, thus connecting with the metaphysical aspect of her life. For twelve years Fran worked as an energy healer for the Alliance Institute for Integrative Medicine under Drs. Steve and Sandi Amoils in Cincinnati, Ohio. Subsequently, Fran began developing her meditation and psychic skills with noted psychic healers John Friedlander and Gloria Hemsher, authors of the definitive books Basic Psychic Development and Psychic Psychology.

Fran’s additional work in the field includes five years as an energy consultant for the staff at The Affinity Center for ADD adult and children in Cincinnati, Ohio. Recently, through Deborah A. Ooten PhD, founder/director of The Conscious Living Center, Fran received her certification as an accredited Enneagram teacher and trainer.

Combining these skills into a method of teaching has been an ongoing goal for Fran. Her passion is to integrate all of these tools to open up the conscious mind, body and spirit. This week I am talking to the medium Traci Bray.

Bio

Traci Bray was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. She was 5 years old when the first known deceased person appeared to her. Although recognition of life beyond a physical existence was real for Traci, it wasn’t until the mid-1990's that she began offering public readings at the urging of friends. Via word-of-mouth, accolades of her skills widened. Her clientele has expanded across the US, and to all continents save the poles!

Traci's professional background and enhanced communications skills lend themselves to her readings. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Family Services and a Master's in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration. For over two decades prior to reading publicly she assisted individuals, families and systems toward change for improvement in the fields of domestic violence, sexual assault, corrections and public transportation. She served as a curriculum writer and trainer for two state-level law enforcement agencies in the Midwest. It is a natural that in addition to families, local, state and federal law enforcement agencies have requested and received her confidential input.

A Ghostly Encounter May 05, 2026

This week I'm reading from Samantha Leifker's book 'Born Awakened: An Otherworldly True Story'

They intervened in my life before I could even speak, and they've guided me ever since. I was born and raised in a poltergeist house, where they trained me in spiritual warfare. I was taken, I was tested, I was shown, and it has only just begun.

From angels to greys to UFOs, every encounter I've had until now is detailed in this book, and I hold nothing back. The first thirty years of my life have been filled with paranormal events, out-of-body experiences, meetings with the dead, and contact with many forms of NHI. Extrasensory perception appears to be a result of my exposure to the supernatural, and so do the wild synchronicities that flood my life.

We are spiritual beings not confined to the physical, and we have the ability to journey into realms that conventional thinking denies. I was born and raised in Bogota, Colombia, where I lived with my parents and three sisters. Although I grew up in the mountains my love for the ocean started when my parents brought me to see it for the very first time at the age of four. I perceived it as a huge blanket and told my mom that some day I was going to find what was hidden under it. At five I told my dad, “When I grow up I am going to become a marine scientist.”

I pursued my dream and went to college where I graduated as a Marine Biologist and later continued my graduate studies until I got a Ph.D. in Marine Sciences with emphasis in Biological Oceanography. My passion for my career had brought me to be a very successful scientist in this field.

Since I was very little my parents discovered that my learning abilities were astonishing but that was not all. Later they also discovered that I could see and hear things that no one else could. All this seemed to be tied up with the aftermath of a near-death experience (NDE) where I drowned at the age of two. Not long after, I started to communicate with Beings of Light who have guided me through a journey of miracles, not just around the world but also through the barriers of time. With them I have been able to access past life experiences of myself and others, and future events.

As I grew up and remembered my drowning, I could never get away from the question, “How could I have seen my body lifeless if I was still alive?” This experience made it clear to me that there was an existence beyond the body. Before I was quite three, I was gifted with knowing that I have existed for a very long time. In fact, I have come and gone in different realms many more times.

Near-Death Experience in Indigenous Religions May 01, 2026

This week I am talking to Dr Gregory Shushan about his book 'Near-Death Experience in Indigenous Religions'.

Near-death experiences are known around the world and throughout human history. They are sometimes reported by individuals who have revived from a period of clinical death or near-death and they typically feature sensations of leaving the body, entering and emerging from darkness, meeting deceased friends and relatives, encountering beings of light, judgment of one's earthly life, feelings of oneness, and reaching barriers, only to return to the body. Those who have NDEs almost invariably understand them as having profound spiritual or religious significance.

In this book, Gregory Shushan explores the relationships between near-death experiences, shamanism, and beliefs about the afterlife in traditional indigenous societies in Africa, North America, and Oceania. Drawing on historical accounts of the earliest encounters with explorers, missionaries, and ethnologists, this study addresses questions such as: Do ideas about the afterlife commonly originate in NDEs? What role does culture play in how people experience and interpret NDEs? How can we account for cross-cultural similarities and differences between afterlife beliefs?

Though NDEs are universal, Shushan shows that how they are actually experienced and interpreted varies by region and culture. As the historical documents reveal, in North America, they were commonly valorized, and attempts were made to replicate them through shamanic rituals. In Africa, however, they were largely considered aberrational events with links to possession or sorcery. In Oceania, Micronesia corresponded more to the African model, while Australia had a greater focus on afterlife journey shamanism. Polynesia and Melanesia showed an almost casual acceptance of the phenomenon as reflected in numerous myths, legends, and historical accounts.

This study examines the continuum of similarities and differences between NDEs, shamanism, and afterlife beliefs in dozens of cultures throughout these regions. In the process, it makes a valuable contribution to our knowledge about the origins of afterlife beliefs around the world and the significance of related experiences in human history.

Gregory Shushan explores the relationship between NDEs and beliefs about the afterlife in traditional indigenous societies.

He was Grawemeyer Award-nominated for his book Conceptions of the Afterlife in Early Civilizations.
