    144: COVID 19 Vaccines May 06, 2021
    Show notes

These days, vaccines are on everyone's mind. With a lot of information out there regarding COVID-19 vaccines, I wanted to bring two special guests to the podcast today to discuss vaccines and what these mean for the college.

    Our guests today are:

Julie Lorton-Rowland, Sr. Vice President of Human Resources, Systems Office

Kyle Giles, Interim Vice President of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, Systems Office

Continue to practice all of the safety protocols such as social distancing, good hand hygiene, and use of facial coverings. If it is the right choice for you, get your vaccine. Indiana residents can access appointments for vaccines at ourshot.in.gov or you can call 211. If you want to know more about 211 and its many services, be sure to check out episode 133 of the podcast where we met the IN 211 director and deputy director.

143: Thought Leader Series Interview with Alexandra Whittington May 04, 2021
    Show notes

This is the first in our series of Thought Leader interviews. This special series of interviews is designed to help prepare college leaders for a future visioning activity taking place in Summer 2021. We are adding all of these interviews where the participants have allowed it for our entire College community to hear.

In this episode, futurist Alexandra Whittington discusses the role of a futurist and some of her ideas for the future. I absolutely loved this conversation and am so excited to work with Alexandra through our series of upcoming leadership events. I'm off to research biophilic design after I re-listen to this episode.

    139: Ivy Achieves Apr 08, 2021
    Show notes

Lesley Bradley and Dr. Cory Clasemann join the podcast to discuss IvyAchieves. Ivy Achieves, a new program rolling out for Fall 2021, is the college's promise to students.

We are promising that when students commit to their goals here at Ivy Tech, we will support them throughout their journey. It consists of two elements. First, an incentive program that will reward students when they engage with their campus, instructors, and other staff through activities that lead to student success. Second, we're promising students that if they embody the five Student Success Commitments, and ultimately aren't successful in a class, they will be able to retake the course for free.

As we mentioned in the episode, here is the list of the nine programs eligible for the Free Course Retake.

    • Business Administration
    • Education (excluding Early Childhood Education)
    • Industrial Tech
    • IT Support
    • Network Infrastructure
    • Practical Nursing
    • Software Development
    • Advanced Automation & Robotics
    • Pre-Nursing CT
