    Other People’s Shoes

Other People’s Shoes is built on a simple idea: before we judge someone, we should understand what they’ve walked through. Host Neil Matthews creates space for honest conversations that challenge assumptions, grow empathy, and help us see the person behind the perspective. You may not agree with every guest, but you’ll leave with a different perspective on life.

    I Get To Apr 19, 2023
    Show notes

What part of your life is off-limits? Imagine for a moment that every area is open to others to watch and learn from you. What are your thoughts on that? My guest today is Caesar Kalinowski. He truly believes that IF you call yourself a disciple of Jesus you should be a disciple-maker. What is a disciple-maker? A disciple-maker is someone who, intentionally and consistently invests in the spiritual growth and development of another person, helping them to become a committed follower of Jesus Christ. This process involves building relationships, teaching biblical truths, modeling godly behavior, and encouraging disciples to apply what they have learned daily. Join me as we try on Caesar's running shoes.

    25 Percent Apr 12, 2023
    Show notes

Have you ever really put yourself in the shoes of the waitress or waiter the last time you were out to eat? The question always seems to come up. Should I tip should I not tip? My guest today is Barbara Slona. Barbara is here to share why tipping is so important and it is the most in our world today. Tipping someone is an expression of appreciation or gratitude for the service provided. It is a way to acknowledge the effort and hard work the service provider put in and show that you value their work. Tipping can also serve as a motivator for the service provider to continue providing excellent service. It can be a way to build rapport with the service provider, and in some cultures, it is considered a social norm or expectation Furthermore, tipping can have a positive impact on the economy as a whole. It can create jobs, increase wages for service providers, and boost consumer spending. In some industries, service providers rely heavily on tips to make a living, creating an unfair and unpredictable system. Employers should ensure that their workers receive fair wages and benefits. Join me as I try on very comfortable shoes.

The Folded Flag Mar 23, 2023
    Show notes

Have you ever watched a Service member fold our great flag? The US folded flag symbolizes honor, respect, and sacrifice for those who have served their country in the armed forces. The folding of the flag is a solemn and meaningful tradition that dates back to the early days of the United States. The flag-folding ceremony is a custom that involves two or more uniformed military members carefully folding the flag, with each fold holding a specific symbolic meaning. The folded flag is presented to the next of kin or an appropriate representative at a funeral or other military ceremony, along with a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the service and sacrifice of the deceased. The triangular shape of the folded flag is said to represent the tri-corner hat worn by the Continental Army during the American Revolution, as well as the shape of the folded flag carried by soldiers and sailors during the Civil War. Each of the 13 folds of the flag holds a specific symbolic meaning, representing the values and beliefs held by the American people. The first fold represents life, the second fold represents a belief in eternal life, and the third fold represents honor and remembrance of the veterans who have served in defense of their country. The fourth fold represents trust in God, the fifth fold symbolizes gratefulness and thanks, and the sixth fold represents the dedication and devotion of the United States armed forces. The remaining folds represent tributes to the country, its people, and its history. Overall, the US folded flag is a powerful symbol of the sacrifices made by members of the armed forces and a reminder of the values and beliefs that are important to the American people. When I wake up in the morning

And the alarm gives out a warning

And I don't think I'll ever make it on time

By the time I grab my books

And I give myself a look

I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by

It's alright 'coz I'm saved by the bell.

Does the bell really save us? My guest today is Jethro Jones, 2017 Digital Principal of the Year, a former principal and host of Transformative Principal, Cybertraps, and My Bonus Money podcasts. He is also the author of How to be a Transformative Principal and SchoolX: How principals can design a transformative school experience for students, teachers, parents – and themselves! Footprints Leave Marks Mar 08, 2023
    Show notes

    Footprints in the sand,

    Leading to the unknown.

    A trail of memories,

    Of the places, we've grown.

    👣

    With each step we take,

Leaves a mark on the earth.

    A reminder of our journey,

From the moment of our birth.

    👣

    Our footprints may fade,

    But the memories remain.

    Of the paths, we've walked,

And the stories that sustain them.

    👣

    So let us tread lightly,

And leave our mark with care.

    For the footprints, we leave,

    Are the legacy we share.

    👣
