    Is the way to talk to yourself bringing you down? Your internal dialog can have a profound impact on your well-being. In this episode, psychologist Dr Rachel Goldman helps us tap into our self-talk, recognize negative patterns, and take steps to flip the script for the better.

    Rachel L. Goldman, Ph.D., FTOS (a.k.a. Dr. Rachel) is a licensed psychologist, speaker and consultant who takes a holistic approach to health. She specializes in the mind-body connection, including stress reduction, disordered eating behaviors, and health behavior change. She is also Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at NYU Grossman School of Medicine and has a private practice in NYC, where she utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy to assist in behavioral changes. She is often seen in the media, including a recent conversation with Oprah and was a consultant for the film, The Whale.

    Most diets seem to be about what NOT to eat, but the best way to improve your health and longevity in the long run is to forget diets and focus on foods to say YES to—what preventative medical expert and chef Dr. Michael Crupain calls The Power Five. In this episode he explains what the healthiest foods are and how they can lead to a life full of flavor.

    Michael Crupain, MD, MPH is board certified preventive medicine physician and author of the cookbook The Power Five. He has had a unique career path, first training in Neurosurgery, then switching to preventive medicine. He served as the Director of the Food Safety and Sustainability Center at Consumer Reports, was medical director at the Doctor Oz show where he won two Emmy Awards. He is on faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, is a member of the board of the American College of Preventive Medicine, and is the Executive Vice President of Clinical Services at Sharecare. He is a constant student of culinary traditions around the world and has trained with top chefs in New York, at cooking schools in Europe and Asia, and with mothers and grandmothers from different cultures. The theme that connects all of Dr. Crupain’s work is his mission to make the world a healthier and more delicious place.

His most recent book is Relax, Dammit!: A User’s Guide to the Age of Anxiety. Caulfield is also the co-founder of the science engagement initiative #ScienceUpFirst and was the host and co-producer of the award-winning documentary TV show, A User’s Guide to Cheating Death, which has been shown in over 60 countries, including streaming on Netflix in North America.
