One Minute Remaining – Stories from the inmates

One Minute Remaining is a true crime and prison podcast featuring first-hand stories from inmates serving lengthy sentences inside prisons across the United States. From murder and attempted murder to robbery, arson and claims of wrongful conviction, these are criminal cases told from behind prison walls.

Hosted by Jack Laurence, One Minute Remaining gives prisoners the opportunity to tell their stories in their own words. We examine the crimes, the evidence and the cases that led to their incarceration, while hearing directly from the people serving the sentences.

Some maintain their innocence. Others admit exactly what they did. Some are serving life sentences or decades behind bars. The purpose isn’t to prove them innocent or guilty — it’s to hear their account, examine the case against them, and let you decide what you think.

From murder cases and disputed convictions to extraordinary stories from inside the American prison system, One Minute Remaining takes listeners beyond the headlines and into cases they may never otherwise have heard.

Hosted by Australian podcaster Jack Laurence.

This is Part 2 of my chat with Vanessa Frake, a former prison governor with a wealth of experience managing some of the most challenging correctional facilities. Vanessa sheds light on the complexities of prison management, the realities faced by both inmates and staff, the unique challenges of running a prison in today's world and how to handle serial killers like Rose West, one half of the infamous British serial killer couple, Fred and Rose West. Together, they were responsible for the torture and murder of at least 12 young women, including their own daughter, between the 1960s and 1980s.

Racing Against Time: The Fight to Save Marcellus Williams Sep 19, 2024
    Show notes

Time is running out for Marcellus Williams, who faces execution in just a few days despite serious doubts about his guilt. DNA evidence that could exonerate him has been ignored, and we need your help to bring attention to his case.

    Call the Governors office on +1 417 - 373 - 3400

when prompted use the Zip Code - 63005

    Use the following script

    • Hi, my name is [NAME] and I am calling regarding the impending execution of Marcellus Williams.
    • Please do not let Missouri execute Marcellus, an innocent person — where there is overwhelming evidence that his trial was constitutionally unfair — on Sept. 24.
    • Missouri should not commit the irreparable injustice of executing an innocent person.

Facing the death penalty in a post 9/11 New York P12 - Tariq Maqbool Sep 18, 2024
    Show notes

On April 27, 2005, Tariq Maqbool was convicted of the murders of Joong Ahn, 45 and his nephew, Mun Ahn, 28 on the night of Nov. 1, 2002.

Prosecutors say Tariq strangled Joong Ahn with a power cord.

They say Mun Ahn and his uncles body were taken to a desolate area near the Hackensack River and put into a car. Mun Ahn was shot in the head, and the SUV doused with gasoline and torched.

Prosecutors would say Tariq orchestrated the entire deal and committed the killings.
