    One Girl To Another

“One Girl To Another” is a podcast to bring you real life, relatable, every day “girl stuff” that all of us go through, but don’t necessarily talk about. We are all about discussing our day to day lives openly and honestly – the good, the bad, and everything in between.

The Microphone of Our Life Mar 23, 2021
    Show notes

This episode gives you the insight of how I let ONE negative comment about this podcast upset me, despite all of the numerous positive comments I've received. I relate it to Jamie Kern Lima's book "Believe It", where she describes how just ONE negative email out of thousands can leave her feeling upset. But, she also explains that how "We all have a microphone that we control in our lives. And we get to choose the people we hand that microphone to...."

We need to take inventory of who we are giving the microphone of our lives to and how loudly we let them speak.

I highly recommend reading or listening to the book referenced in this podcast : Believe It by Jamie Kern Lima.

    F*ck Cancer #BStrong #ZillahStrong Mar 16, 2021
    Show notes

This episode is an interview with Brandi Valdez, who is a mom, a wife, a teacher, a coach, a cancer survivor, and now a second time cancer fighter.

She takes us on her journey from her college basketball days, to becoming a wife and a mom, to her past and current battles against cancer.

You will soon learn what a rockstar Brandi is, from her awesome attitude to still showing up for everything and everyone.

Please excuse the multiple silent breaks as we had some technical difficulties with FaceTime for this call, but trust me when I tell you it is worth your time.

A Lengthy List of Pet Peeves Mar 09, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode of One Girl To Another, I give quite the lengthy list of my pet peeves, most of which I think most anyone can relate to. From driving slow in the fast lane to being made to feel like your feelings aren't valid, it's about 15 minutes of things that bug the shit out of me. Here's to hoping you can relate to at least a few of them so that this episode doesn't come across as a complete bitch session.

But really, stay out of the left lane unless you're passing someone ;-)

    A Girl's FULL Plate Mar 02, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, I cover the overwhelmingly full plate that a lot of us girls have, especially as wives and mamas. And when we lose our shit once in a while because of it, I like to think we are normal. Our significant others may not understand simply because they don't think the same as us, but in my completely unprofessional opinion, we are still normal.

As mentioned in the episode, my husband is my tech dude, so he was the first to listen to and the one to publish this episode of my bitch session about all that is on my plate.

And if you haven't listened yet, you should tune into Episode 4 where he is my guest on the podcast talking about the real life ins and outs and ups and downs of our marriage. Catch it here:

    Mom Life - Part 1 Feb 23, 2021
    Show notes

Have you ever been "that mom" with the kid throwing the fit in the store that everyone stares at and swears they will never be? Yeah, me too. This episode gives you a brief overview of a couple of recent instances where I was "that mom" in the store and how those instances panned out.

As said in the episode, "Parenting is not for the faint of heart. It is the best, most frustrating, amazing and scary thing that I've ever experienced, but of course, wouldn't change it for the world."

Trust Your Instincts - Advocate for Your Loved Ones Feb 16, 2021
    Show notes

This episode of One Girl To Another brings on a special guest, one of my very best friends, Tryneil.

In 2019, Tryneil gave birth to the most precious baby boy, Waylon, who has had medical struggles from day 1. Tryneil and her husband, Billy, along with their pediatrician continued to advocate for Waylon until he was officially diagnosed with Cri Du Chat, which is a rare genetic condition.

Tryneil takes us on their journey from Waylon's birth to now, providing us with a strong message to always trust your instincts and advocate for your loved ones when you know something isn't quite right. She says, "Find your team", which is exactly what they did for their warrior baby, Waylon.

We also quickly discuss the side business that Tryneil and her sister, Jordyn have started. Defend Pretty offers defense keychains for a variety of ages and you can you find them here:

Weight Doesn’t Determine Your Beauty Feb 09, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, I’ll give you a quick rundown of my struggle with weight over my 30 some years of life. It’s been on my mind every day of my life for as long as I can remember. There was a season of my life that I made the commitment to nutrition and exercise and was in the best shape of my life. But my current season doesn’t look like this and I’m coming to grips with the fact that it’s okay. I know who I am on the inside, and that girl is beautiful no matter what the scale says. I hope you can find that within yourself too because “confidence is the most beautiful thing a girl can wear".

This is a super quick episode about different impacts that this last year has had on us as humans. Between all things pandemic, politics, and our own lives, a lot of our seemingly inexplicable behaviours or actions during this time are actually considered normal. hang in there girl - I think we are all going a little crazy as of late.

The End Goal Is Built One Lego Block At A Time Jan 26, 2021

Is there something you really want but the end goal seems so far away? After listening to "Take Control of Your Life" by Mel Robbins, I realized how the dream of having my own podcast that seemed like it couldn't be more than a dream ended up eventually becoming this reality - It was built one Lego block at a time.

If you are inspired by this episode and decide to put down your first Lego block toward a goal, I'd love for you to send me a message on Insta @onegirl_toanother or add it to your story and tag @onegirl_toanother!

And, if haven't read or listened to "Take Control of Your Life" by Mel Robbins yet, I highly recommend it!

Our Real Life Marriage - Interview with Mr. Ainsworth Jan 19, 2021
    Show notes

Social media can tend to show a highlight reel of beautiful pictures and captions that make each of us seem like we have it all together and like we live the perfectly happy life. Let's be honest - that just simply isn't true. At least not for my husband, Chase and I. There has been a lot of great, but also quite a bit of just down right ugly. This is our story, from beginning to present, about how we got her and the struggles along the way.

Shout out to hubs for being the first guest on the OGTA Podcast and sticking to our mission - being open and honest about the good, the bad, and the ugly.
