On Texas Football: DEEPEST Team in 20 Years — Hidden Battles That Could Decide the Season Aug 03, 2026

Show notes

Jeff Howe and Bobby Burton examine the overlooked training-camp battles that could determine whether Texas has enough quality depth to survive a potential 16- or 17-game championship season. Cam Coleman, Ryan Wingo and Emmett Mosley appear to lead a loaded receiver room, but Jermaine Bishop, Kaliq Lockett, Daylan McCutcheon and Sterling Berkhalter are fighting to become the trusted options Texas can call upon when injuries inevitably strike.

The discussion then turns to a defensive front that could be Texas’ deepest in decades. Justus Terry has an opportunity to become the disruptive interior presence Will Muschamp needs, while Richard Wesley, Smith Orogbo, Colton Vasek and Zina Umeozulu battle for snaps behind Colin Simmons and Lance Jackson. With talented players competing throughout the rotation, Texas may finally possess the depth required to chase a national championship without suffering a dramatic drop-off when its starters leave the field.

Show notes

Texas has officially reported for fall camp, and Bobby Burton, Gerry Hamilton, Blake Munroe and national champion Marcus Myers explain what separates a championship-caliber team from everyone else. The crew discusses the focus, confidence and intensity they expect to see when practice opens, why the Ohio State rematch should command everyone’s attention and which overlooked competitions at left guard, safety, tight end and across the defensive rotation could shape the season.

The show also revisits Texas’ major recruiting victory with Landen Williams-Callis and the relationships that helped the Longhorns overcome multiple running backs coach changes. Plus, the guys identify Justus Terry, Richard Wesley and Brad Spence as potential defensive breakouts, debate whether Texas can reach 50 sacks and explain what Steve Sarkisian needs from the unresolved left guard battle to protect Arch Manning and revive the running game.

LIVE: “Texas A&M Out-Recruited You Guys” — How Texas STILL Landed Landen Williams-Callis Aug 03, 2026

Show notes

Randle head coach Brian Randle joins Rod Babers and Gerry Hamilton to reveal the behind-the-scenes story of Landen Williams-Callis’ commitment to Texas. Coach Randle admits Texas A&M held the recruiting advantage for much of the process, but explains how Chris Gilbert’s relationship with Williams-Callis and his family helped the Longhorns completely change the trajectory of the recruitment and land one of the state’s most productive players.

The guys also break down why Williams-Callis’ 5-foot-8 frame can become an advantage, highlighting his low center of gravity, elite vision, contact balance and explosive acceleration. Coach Randle discusses carefully managing his workload, his remarkable strength and durability, and the character that separates him away from football—from protecting classmates from bullying to displaying the maturity and leadership of an “old soul.”

Jacquizz Rodgers: “You’ve Got to Be a DOG” — Why Texas’ New RB Can Become GREAT | Steve Sarkisian Aug 02, 2026

Show notes

Former Oregon State and NFL running back JaQuizz Rodgers explains why Texas commit Landen Williams-Callis is one of the most gifted backs the Houston area has ever produced. Rodgers breaks down the speed, power, vision and relentless mentality that have allowed Williams-Callis to dominate since his freshman season—and why his height should never be confused with a lack of size, strength or durability.

Rodgers also reveals the advice he gave Williams-Callis just days before his commitment and explains the biggest adjustment awaiting him in college football. With multiple NFL veterans in his family and the opportunity to join Texas’ legendary running back fraternity, Williams-Callis now has the platform to chase the standard established by Ricky Williams, Cedric Benson, Jamaal Charles and Bijan Robinson.

The panel also discusses whether Emmett Mosley and freshman Jermaine Bishop can emerge in Texas’ loaded receiver room.

“A Legitimate National Title Contender” — Phil Steele’s BOLD Texas Prediction | Steve Sarkisian Aug 01, 2026

Show notes

College football expert Phil Steele joins Bobby Burton to explain why he ranks Texas No. 4 nationally and believes the Longhorns can win the 2026 national championship. Steele projects Texas to have the nation’s No. 3 offense and No. 8 defense, pointing to Arch Manning’s late-season growth, a dramatically improved offensive line, two proven transfer running backs and the potentially explosive combination of Cam Coleman and Ryan Wingo.

Steele also breaks down the SEC championship race between Texas and Georgia, explains why the Longhorns landed several major transfer-portal upgrades and evaluates Texas A&M ahead of the rivalry rematch. Plus, he reveals Alabama as his biggest surprise team, names Gunnar Stockton as a long-shot Heisman candidate and explains why the 2027 NFL Draft quarterback class could be one of the deepest in years.

Texas CAN’T Keep Relying on Arch Manning — Sark’s Offense Must Evolve | Longhorns Football Jul 31, 2026

Show notes

Rod Babers and Jeff Howe explain why Texas cannot continue treating Arch Manning as its most dependable short-yardage runner. With a talented collection of running backs, tight ends and receivers, Steve Sarkisian must develop a more diverse offensive identity featuring power packages, two-back formations, empty sets and tendency-breaking plays. The Longhorns’ championship hopes could depend on finally becoming efficient on third down and in the red zone without repeatedly putting their quarterback in harm’s way.

The discussion then shifts to Will Muschamp and how his new Texas defense could differ from the units he coordinated in Austin nearly two decades ago. Expect aggressive man coverage, more pressure packages and a relentless pursuit of takeaways—even if that approach occasionally surrenders a big play. Rod and Jeff explain how Muschamp’s havoc-driven philosophy could create early opportunities for Sark’s offense, help Texas play from ahead and unleash Colin Simmons once opponents are forced into predictable passing situations.
