Faded Giant is a military term used for event involving a nuclear reactor or radiological accident. It is also the title of Robert Salas’ book which explores UFO incident when Minuteman I missiles of Echo Flight, assigned to Malmstrom AFB MT, were disabled. On March 24, 1967 on-site security guards reported a large UFO which hovered above the front gate to the Oscar Launch Control Facility. Captain Robert Salas (then First Lieutenant) was the Deputy Crew Commander on duty during that incident. Mr. Salas visited Cork on October 5, 2017 where I arranged a meeting with him. After I briefed him about current releases in relation to the UFO incidents of 172 Aviation Regiment (Yugoslav Air Force) from January 1975, he was kind enough to grant me 1-hour interview. We discussed his direct involvement in the Oscar Flight incident, overall implications, and his broad views about the phenomena. It was a honor to speak with Mr. Salas last October and our discussion is now finally available in public domain.

We are discussing another Radar UFO incident with Gerry Flood, former US Air Force GCA radar air traffic controller. Incident happened in 1958 while Gerry was stationed in Eielson AFB in Alaska. Gerry observed a target on search radar (MPN-11) which was able to fly over 5,000mph and make turns instantly of over 90 degrees. Other radar sites were contacted and target was confirmed on their scopes too.This is a companion episode to our previous special that presented 1967 Radar Visual UFO Incident above Southern Florida:

Every few months we will cover different historical periods of unidentified aerial intrusions and National Security implications based on his book.Larry's book "Unidentified - The National Intelligence Problem of UFOs" explores that intelligence failure, beginning during World War II and continuing over some three decades of official inquiries. It also profiles the events – including inter-service and inter-agency political posturing – which prevented the problem from being elevated to a level of true national security tasking. The ongoing Air Force decision to study the problem only at the level of individual incidents and the larger failure to task the broader intelligence community with a longer term, strategic analysis of security related UFO activities ensured that the fundamental problem was simply not addressed. Radar site located at Homestead AFB, Florida was stationed by Dennis Force, and second radar battery site at Key West, Florida was served by Bill Schroeder. The operators and radar stations were separated by approximately 100 miles.The case involves radar detection from multiple radar sites, several interception attempts by fighter jets, visual sighting, and a possible ECM effect caused by an unknown target. Duration of this dramatic incident lasted for approximately 4 hours. Two separate UFO flight groups were identified. Group A was flying over Atlantic area near Miami and Group B was flying over south of the Florida mainland. Meet Jean Béliveau, the man who walked around the Earth. He left Montreal, Canada on foot back in 2000. His goal was to walk around the planet to promote "Peace and non-violence for the profit of the children of the world". Jean traveled alone with a three-wheeled stroller that hold a bit of food, his clothing, a first aid kit, a small tent and a sleeping bag. It took him 134 months to accomplish his goal, and he arrived back home on October 16, 2011 having walked 75,543 km. Jean will highlight experiences from his amazing 11-year adventure, and he will also talk about his current project - building a geodesic dome in a remote forest.

In our Special Investigative episode we present your former NAC pilot - Peter Maher who joined me over the telephone all the way from New Zealand.Peter will describe important Radar-Visual UFO Incident from 1970s while he was flying NAC Fokker 27 Airplane from Tauranga to Auckland. Case involves visual sighting, radar detection from ground and on-board radars. Most dramatic element is a near-miss incident which is raising air Safety concerns.On top of that, incident has very similar characteristics with Pan Adria incident from 1976 which I am researching for the last 21 years. That incident happened above former Yugoslavia.
In both of these cases, we can compare following aspects:- Radar detection with on-board and ground radars.- Frontal confrontation with an UFO which allowed detection from Fokker's weather radar with a very strong signal.- Visual sighting.- UFO followed air plane during considerable part of the flight route maintaining speed and distance from the plane.- Enormous speed increase from an UFO and near-miss incident.

Whistleblower Mark Klein tells the story of the illegal government spying apparatus installed at an AT&T office by the National Security Agency, and his battle to bring it to light and protect Americans’ 4th Amendment rights. After the New York Times revealed in 2005 that the NSA was spying on Americans’ phone calls and e-mail without Constitutionally-required court warrants, the Bush administration openly defended this practice which also violated the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. All details of the highly secret program remained hidden from the public—until Klein came forward. A technician for over 22 years at telecom giant AT&T, Klein was working in the Internet room in San Francisco in 2003 and discovered the NSA was vacuuming everyone’s communications into a secret room, and he had the documents to prove it (sample pages included). He went to the media in 2006, and then became a witness in a lawsuit brought against the company by the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

Kenneth didn't use radio as Bruce said in the episode. However, he sent me this short correction after the interview to make the issue even more clear: "Arnold said he did have a small radio on his plane for contacting the control tower when he was close to landing. However, it was not powerful enough to reach the major landing fields in Seattle and vicinity so he did not tell anyone until after he landed."
