U40: WVU game cancelled, Lincoln says bring on Ohio State Dec 10, 2020

What a day of news and the Unofficial 40 has your complete wrap up as the OU-West Virginia regular season finale has been cancelled due to a COVID outbreak in Morgantown. The Sooners will move on to play Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship game next week in Arlington. Or could they play this weekend? Lincoln Riley met with the local beat writers this afternoon and said he would play Ohio State this weekend if Ryan Day called him. But he also kind of said that would be very difficult to pull off. So he sort of said, 'Bring on Ohio State, but probably not.' It is signing day next week and Bob and Josh give you the full rundown of what is happening on the recruiting trail. We also try not to talk about the OU basketball team's sound defeat at the hands of Xavier last night. Will you make Josh's Christmas card list? While everyone was over here worrying about COVID postponing or cancelling another OU game, Lincoln Riley through out something that blew everyone's minds during his Tuesday press conference. Bob Stoops had come out of retirement to help coach the Sooners as it is believed several assistants are out due to positive COVID tests and/or contact tracing. We talk about the possible return of Bob Stoops to the sidelines well as the latest from campus where the Sooners are hoping to keep COVID at bay as a matchup with Baylor awaits Saturday night in Norman. It's been a two week wait but Bedlam is finally here. Or will it be? The guys give the latest on where things stand with COVID and injuries. Will Austin Stogner be available for OSU? Lincoln Riley says Spencer Rattler is back to 100%. Also, it's a bye week and this week's slate of Big 12 games is not very good. But next week it is on and title matchups could be decided between Iowa State, OU, OSU and Kansas State! It was a little slow on the football front with no football this week, but even though Josh can't stop buying houses and moving, he did give us a breakdown of a recent big-time recruiting trip to St. Louis and might have people concerned about one of OU's biggest defensive line commitments. On this week's Unofficial 40 podcast we go back and breakdown how big the addtitions of Ronnie Perkins and Rhamondre Stevenson can be for the Sooners down the final stretch of the season. Is OU in the driver's seat? Maybe not completely. But things are looking up for OU's chances to play in the Big 12 title game. And it appears Spencer Rattler and the OU offense have developed a little bit of swagger coming out of Lubbock. It's been a different type of season, but OU is looking like a complete team for the first time all season and one of the more complete teams we've seen in years if the defense continues to build. The guys have been out on the recruiting trail quite a bit as well. With coaches unable to go out and see kids, we're pretty much all you get from in-person scouting.
