The Person and Role of the Holy Spirit Mar 25, 2021
    Show notes

Greg and RD jump right into their discussion by talking about the Trinity, then reinforcing that the Holy Spirit is a person.

Greg cautions listeners when they are breaking down or splitting up the Trinity; he mentions using the Economic Trinity teaching to help understand how the Trinity works.

The two repeat that the Spirit's job is to point people to Jesus, not to Himself; the Spirit is constantly reminding us of Jesus' words and commandments.

Greg and RD transition into talking about the gifts of the Holy Spirit. RD conveys that knowing your spiritual gifts is not self-seeking; your gifts are given to you to build up the body of Christ. Greg emphasizes that if your gift is not serving the Gospel, then it's not from the Holy Spirit.

One of the last things they talk about is how the Holy Spirit is our guarantee as a Believer.

    Bible Study: 1 Peter Mar 18, 2021
    Show notes

RD and Greg jump into 1 Peter with some history of the book, including who authored it. RD states early on that 1 Peter was written to the "elect exiles."

Greg reveals that the major themes of 1 Peter are suffering, the divinity of Jesus, and the apocalypse. RD adds that we shouldn't be surprised when we experience suffering as a Believer because we are told again and again in the Bible to expect suffering.

Greg points out that our faith is more valuable than our circumstances, as is explained in 1 Peter. He also explains sanctification for listeners.

RD brings up what 1 Peter has to say about shepherding God's people, particularly the elderly.

Greg references 1 Peter 3, and explains how we on earth will never fully understand God or the Bible, but that doesn't mean we can't still trust the Bible.

The Cancer of Pornography Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

After introducing their more PG-13 subject of pornography, Greg explains some history behind how we got to where we are. RD is quick to point out that this issue affects both men and women.

The two discuss how there are often only two schools of thought about pornography: It is the unforgivable sin (which leads to shame and not real conversation), or it's celebrated as providing sexual freedom.

Greg is emphatic that it is not a sin to look at someone and be attracted sexually to them because God created us to be attracted to them. It becomes a sin when the thought turns to lust. RD adds that pornography is bad because it makes sex transactional and takes away the covenant partnership tied to sex.

Greg brings up society's attachment to technology; he references the hikikomori in Japan and an article by Maggie Jones.

RD implores listeners to have real conversations about pornography so as to bring freedom to those in its bondage. He mentions how Jesus was friends with and forgave prostitutes and those living in sin as a way to show that Jesus pursues all of us no matter what we've done.

As an additional resource for kids, Greg references a book called Good Pictures Bad Pictures.

RD and Greg transition into helping listeners know how to react and what to say when someone in their life confesses to them that they watch porn. Greg specifically speaks to people getting into new relationships, and how to handle when the other person says they watch porn.

As they wrap up, the two reference resources available at Fellowship Church, like the counseling department.
