Retired Army Major - Stacy Lively In-Studio! Nov 13, 2025

We had a great time catching up with retired Army Major Stacy Lively, a former high school classmate whose 27-year military career took him all over the world — from Panama to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Stacy enlisted in the Army in 1987 and went on to serve in both Operation Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom, completing five combat tours totaling 54 months. His journey took him from basic training at Fort Jackson to the 82nd Airborne Division at Fort Bragg, and later to the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as a commissioned Infantry Officer.

We talk about what service really means, the transition from military to civilian life, lessons from leadership under fire, and of course — a few laughs and memories along the way.

It’s a genuine, down-to-earth conversation with someone who’s lived a life of commitment, courage, and perspective.

Daniel Dücker MSS, M. Ed. - Army Veteran and Executive Director - VA Tennessee Valley Health Care joined Josh Roe, John Ballinger, and Clint Powell in the studio for a great conversation! We talked about how the VA is changing is reputation among veterans - how leadership matters - building a Government agency based on the customer experience - the services the VA provides - what is next for the VA - and more! PLUS - we shared stories and the veterans shared about their personal experience serving in the military!

Also - Josh Roe gave us a very brief update on his recent trip to Vietnam centered around the Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Rodney Davis!

Who is Mr. Dücker (abbreviated from the VA website): In this role, Mr. Dücker oversees health care operations for two Level 1A VA medical centers and 20 outpatient clinics serving more than 140,000 enrolled Veterans living in middle Tennessee, southern Kentucky, and northern Georgia. He leads an executive leadership team of seven and 5,200 employees with an annual operating budget of $1.8 billion. Under his leadership, he has maintained strong academic affiliations and cutting -edge research advancements with five medical institutions, including Vanderbilt University Medical Center and Meharry Medical College, and more than 100 associated health residency programs. He also championed a new partnership and resource sharing agreement with Fort Campbell Army Post and Blanchfield Army Community Hospital resulting in the newly constructed Fort Campbell VA Clinic, making this the only VA-DoD health care clinic in Kentucky and second in Tennessee.

Mr. Dücker retired from the U.S. Army Reserve in 2017 as a Medical Service Corps officer at the rank of Colonel after nearly 34 years of service. He received numerous awards during his military service including the Legion of Merit (2) and the Bronze Star for leadership and meritorious service as a Commander in Afghanistan.
