Episode 260: Crash Cookies Feb 12, 2021

Show notes

Before we dive into more spoiler-y talk of Bowser's Fury, first we have to eat our vegetables. Neal got a bunch of Crash Bandicoot-flavored cookies in the mail while John started a TikTok for Nintendo World Report. After that talk goes on for way longer than expected, the pair cover the upcoming slates of Nintendo Switch Online games (one of them is directed by the co-founder of Skip, Ltd.!) as well as two new releases: the indie game Blue Fire (3D Hollow Knight sorta?) and Ys IX: Monstrum Nox (out on PS4 but coming to Switch later this year). Then, they talk all about Cat Mario and how Bowser's Fury is a low-key masterpiece. 00:01:57 - NWR gets a TikTok! 00:05:33 - Crash Bandicoot Cookies and Activision Talk 00:12:45 - New Nintendo Switch Online Games 00:26:24 - Blue Fire 00:33:11 - Ys IX: Monstrrum Nox 00:40:43 - Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury Spoiler Talk 01:01:18 - Closing Thoughts Connectivity has joined Twitter, so be sure to follow @ConnectivityNWR to be up to date on any announcements. Episode 258: Bowser's Fury Preview While Furious At Balan Jan 29, 2021

Show notes

It's time to get down and dirty with Super Mario 3D World on Switch. Both John and Neal have played some amount of Nintendo's upcoming release, including some time with Bowser's Fury. But before you can have dessert, you need to eat your veggies. Before the Mario talk, Neal drifts off into the land of Fantasian hype before being rudely awoken by the Balan Wonderworld demo. Episode 257: Thank You, Takaya Imamura Jan 22, 2021

Show notes

John and Neal focused on just one thing this week (or tried to) and talked about the Nintendo career and influence of Takaya Imamura, who recently retired from Nintendo after 32 years of service. He's an artist who created the designs of the Star Fox team, various F-Zero characters, and the man, the myth, the legend Tingle. If you want to know, well, we got 45 minutes talking about this dude. Episode 256: New Super Xander World's Fury + Hockey Jan 15, 2021

Show notes

Xander Morningstar came by and we all got really furious with excitement for Bowser's Fury before diving more into the announcement of Lucasfilm Games working with Bethesda and Ubisoft (because we always gotta touch on Star Wars), tossing out hopes and dreams and ideas for future Switch revisions, and then rounding out the talk by going into the NWR Hype Meter and putting John to sleep by talking RPGs. Also, Neal demanded NHL 2021 season playoff predictions from Xander and John, who don't actually follow hockey at all. 00:01:29 - Hockey Predictions 00:15:21 - Bowser's Fury 00:31:27 - Lucasfilm Games 00:44:31 - Bad games, Switch 2 and Wii U 00:48:59 - The NWR 2021 Hype Meter 01:09:04 - RPG Talk 01:40:20 - Colors Live Talk Connectivity has joined Twitter, so be sure to follow @ConnectivityNWR to be up to date on any announcements. Episode 255: The Gang Gets Next Level Jan 08, 2021

Show notes

In an effort to stay sane, Joe DeVader joins John and Neal to talk some video games. Neal leads the charge on talking about Next Level Games and what we want to see now that they're soon to be under Nintendo's umbrella officially while John shares his experiences with the new Monster Hunter Rise demo. Joe chimes in to talk Ring Fit Adventure and Paradise Killer and John closes the show finding out he can't say Deadlock as he talks about the non-timely Battlestar Galactica Deadlock game on Switch. Episode 254: GOTY Theory Jan 01, 2021

Show notes

To close out 2020 - or start it off since this is coming out in 2021 despite the fact we recorded in 2020 - John and Neal go through their Game of the Year lists for 2020. Neal, uh, went overboard with a meticulous 30-game ranked list while John, um, looked at his OpenCritic page before we recorded and used that as a guide. We cover everything from Nintendo's first-party games to indies, and even touch on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1+2, because that's a real game of the year type thing. Episode 253: Star Wars World Report Dec 18, 2020

Show notes

Is this the way? We don't know, but we'll follow this path anyway, even if it leads to the dark side. This week on the show, Ryan Grove (of NWR contributing and Blockade Runner podcast fame) joins John and Neal to talk about what we'd like to see from Star Wars video games, the onslaught of new Star Wars movies and shows news, and also we do sometimes touch on Nintendo video games, most importantly Hades, Collection of SaGa, and, um, Star Wars Pinball. Be wary: we do get into spoilers for The Mandalorian Season 2 (everything except the finale - which is out now but we recorded earlier this week so laugh at our predictions!) and I guess all other Star Wars series spoilers, too. Sorry not sorry it's so Star Wars focused! Connectivity has joined Twitter, so be sure to follow @ConnectivityNWR to be up to date on any announcements. We are wanting more listener participation, so feel free to ask questions, they may show up in the show!
