    Nu Pod with Joshua Toomey & Ro Kohli

    In the world of music podcasting, there are basically two categories – podcasts by fans, and podcasts by famed musicians that have reached the pinnacle of success. Somewhere in the middle of that is the Talk Toomey podcast. Hosted by Joshua Toomey, who previously was a member of national recording artists Primer 55, Talk Toomey avoids the pitfalls of fandom and the backslapping glad handing that comes from successful bands shamelessly talking to each other. Instead, you get focused, powerful and real looks into “the inner circle” of being a hard rock/heavy metal band, complete with questions most are too afraid to ask because their experience doesn’t meet or exceed the level needed to ask and relate. Talk Toomey has been regularly hailed as a top show since the onset, being highlighted on sites like Blabbermouth, Brave Words, etc. Talk Toomey is released for music fans free every Thursday!

    Sonny Sandoval joined Joshua Toomey and Throwback Throwdown to let us all in on the 20th Anniversary of "Satellite" tour that will begin in August and go through October 2021. Sonny and Joshua reflect on releasing the album on Sept. 11 2001 and the tragedy of that day. Sonny speaks of working with Howard Benson and how many bands wanted that "Satellite" sound after the album was released. Sonny discusses faith and how he was unaware of the underground Christian Music scene.

    Fernanda Lira of Crypta joins Throwback Throwdown with Toomey to discuss their debut release "Echoes of the Soul". Fernanda talks about taking the pandemic year to write and perfect the songs. Fernanda let's us in on her influences and her love of the Florida Death Metal scene. We also talk about being able to get the album on CD, LP and even cassette.

Carnifex is one of the few bands that has completed tours since the country has started to open back up and he tells us about record attendance and merch sales. Phil and I chat about having big heads and large hats, Titans / Raiders and his newest baby. He discusses being Mr. Quarantine jam and how that helped with his confidence in playing. He spills the beans on almost playing Bloodstock with Devin Townsend. He is so proud of the 5 new Vio-Lence songs and the legacy of the band. He ends with a tour of his bar and talks about making a drumstick chandelier in tribute to Joey Jordison.
