Trey Lance or Jimmy Garoppolo as Week 1 starter? The money says Jimmy G; Phillies blaming wrong people for losing (8/26) Aug 26, 2021

Show notes

Today’s word of the day is ‘suspense’ as in on the edge of your seat as in anticipation as in Kyle Shanahan has yet to name a starting QB for the San Francisco 49ers. It’s either overpaid Jimmy Garolopolo or 3rd overall pick Trey Lance. Shanahan said sorry, but not sorry! He knows who the starter is, but won’t be telling anyone soon. (10:45) The Philadelphia Phillies are in bad shape so Davilas Dombrowski did what he does best… fired people. Why were these moves made? Removing assistant general managers? Really? (27:00) Review: White Lotus. (29:55) The ACC, Big Ten, Pac-12 have formed an alliance! A what?! The commissioners got together and said they would work with one another to try and block the SEC. But this is just a gentlemen’s agreement because we all know how much those work! (36:00) NPPOD. (37:48) So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about the Harry Kane/Tottenham transfer saga. Kane wants out of Tottenham, Spurs didn’t want him to leave. Kane is not leaving. Now what?

Show notes

Today’s word of the day is ‘megalomaniac’ as in the NFL as in new rules were released via a memo from the league that will prevent the media from entering the locker room. Team-affiliated media members are allowed in. All other media members, sorry. Why would Roger Goodell allow this? (12:55) So You Wanna Talk To Samson!? Someone asked me about Nerlens Noel suing agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. Uh oh. Paul is the agent and best friend of LeBron James. Klutch runs the league. (28:20) Review: Malice at the Palace. (37:45) NPPOD. (40:50) The St. Louis Cardinals made some news yesterday. Ace Jack Flaherty left the game with injury and it looks like it’s a shoulder problem. The team also signed Yadier Molina to another 1-year, $10M deal. A farewell tour.

Show notes

Today’s word of the day is ‘together’ as in it was the first time since March 16, 2020 that Coca and I were in the same room. Let’s talk quickly about my trip to Iceland then we’ll get to the goods. (3:00) We start things off with Steve Cohen and the New York Mets. The team can’t hit. The team can’t pitch. The team can’t win. Steve Cohen’s Twitter account has been critical. His locker room rah-rah speech didn’t work. Now what? (14:10) The New York Yankees are on fire. The team is 16-3 since a black cat ran onto the field in their loss to the Baltimore Orioles. How did this happen? Luke Voit publicly came out and said he needs to play more than Anthony Rizzo, he deserves to play more than Anthony Rizzo… was this a mistake? (22:20) Review: Coda.
