Show notes

Sandra and Jerome Herold purchased Travis the chimpanzee at only three weeks old to have him as a pet, however he quickly became more like a son, as well as a staple in their town. Although Travis acted out at times, the community believed he wasn't a danger to those around him. Long time friend and employee, Charla Nash, would regularly drop into the Herold home to feed Travis. So in February of 2009, when Travis began acting out, Sandra called Charla for help, hoping a familiar face wouldn't set him off, however she was very wrong. 56: Episode 56: The Girl In The Box Part 1 Oct 19, 2021

Show notes

For Colleen Stan the decision to hitchhike to southern California to surprise a friend for her birthday proved to be a fateful one. In May of 1977, Colleen Stan got into the car of Cameron and Janice Hooker for an uneventful ride, however what followed was years of torture. Her captor was unfortunately crafty, and over the next seven years she spent the majority of her time in a number of different confined boxes he designed. Imagine existing in a coffin all day, every day for years. Trigger warning: this one sounds rough, because it is.
