Episode 40: Why traditional spay & neuter of dogs is no longer ok - a conversation with Dr. Karen Becker and Rodney Habib Dec 14, 2024

Show notes

I've witnessed firsthand the profound impact of hormones on our canine companions' health and behavior, and the recent update to the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) guidelines on neutering is a game-changer.

Hormones aren't just about reproduction; they're crucial for overall well-being.
When we remove them through traditional spaying and neutering, we're inadvertently causing a cascade of health issues such as an increased risk of cancers and joint issues.

My own dog, Pax, experienced many of these issues after neutering. It wasn't until we started hormone replacement therapy that I saw a dramatic improvement in his health and vitality.

The good news is we have alternatives and solutions, which we discuss in this episode.

Episode 39: Toxic positivity, wrinkles, and inner beauty Sep 24, 2022

Show notes

In this episode, I explain how toxic positivity leads to the perception that emotions are divided into two groups, the negative and the positive. Anger, frustration, fear, and feeling overwhelmed, are normal emotions just the same as joy, happiness, and excitement. They would not be able to exist without each other, and they are all part of being human.

I also share my thoughts on embracing your inner beauty while aging, not viewing wrinkles as a failure but as a sign of wisdom, grace, and a well-lived life.

Thank you for listening!

Episode 35: Do dogs behave better when they have more freedom? Jun 10, 2022

Show notes

Do you know a fearful or reactive dog? What if dog restrictions and leash laws are at the core of dog behaviour issues? I’ve spoken on this topic many times, and I won’t stop until countries like the USA and Canada recognize how important dogs are to our wellbeing and that marginalizing and restricting access does not work.

I have lived in three different countries, Canada, the USA and the Czech Republic. I have seen the difference freedom, trust, and socialization make in the quality of life for people, dogs, and society.

If you are interested in igniting a dog freedom movement in your area, email me at customercare@peterdobias.com, and together we will spread the word.

Episode 32: An interview with a frontline pet rescuer in Ukraine Apr 19, 2022

Show notes

If there is one interview you should listen to, this is it. I had the privilege of speaking with Lana Niland, a Canadian who has been living in Ukraine since 2003. We discuss the brave work she is doing to help the people and animals of Ukraine, and how we can all contribute to her efforts.
This interview has not been edited or sugarcoated - so there is some upsetting content for animal lovers - but it will give you a balanced view of what is happening in Ukraine. If we want to change the world, we need to understand what is wrong and the media doesn't always report things accurately.
Thank you for listening, sharing, and possibly donating if you are able to through the links below. ❤️🐶✌️🇺🇦
