Episode 429: What a satisfying win Sep 01, 2023

Show notes

It has been far too long since we have recorded after a win. In fact, it’s been nearly two months since the sounders last won a game, a streak they finally ended on Wednesday in very satisfying faction when they beat Austin FC 2-1 on a 90th minute Albert Rusnak.

In fairness, the Sounders were the beneficiaries of some fortunate VAR decisions, but give them credit for putting themselves in position to take advantage. Both goals they had were well taken and they did a good job of limiting Austin’s chances. I think you can even argue that they had as many and as good of chances as Austin, if not better.

The Sounders did all this while rotating fully half their outfield players. Dare I say it, but this win felt … important? Let's discuss!

Episode 427: What’s going on inside the Sounders’ locker room? Aug 29, 2023

Show notes

There's been a lot of talk about what's going on behind the scenes with the Seattle Sounders. To help us get to the bottom of that, we asked Niko Moreno to join us. As you might imagine, it's not all rainbows and unicorns but possibly not as messy as you might fear. It's also becoming apparent that the players are aware that change is on the way and how some of them are positioning themselves for their next moves.

Episode 426: Our first mini-episode Aug 28, 2023

Show notes

Welcome to the first episode of a still-unnamed show. It’s envisioned as a minipodcast by Sounder at Heart. Today is Monday, Aug. 28 and I am Jeremiah Oshan. My hope is to do this podcast every Monday and every morning of a gameday with the intention of sort of seting the table for what just happened or what we expect to happen.

For today’s episode, I’ll be doing a quick breakdown of the Minnesota United match, giving a quick preview of the Austin FC match on Wednesday and looking back on my story about the Sam Adeniran situation

Episode 425: Mailbag for week 25 Aug 24, 2023

Show notes

We tried something new with the mailbag episode: Rather than soliciting questions from Twitter, we sourced them from our new Discord server. We were really pleased with the quality of questions and talked a lot about roster building, who might succeed Brian Schmetzer eventually as well as talked a bit about the new minority owners. It went so well, that we think we'll keep doing it this way for at least the next few weeks.

This is also a good chance to promote the Discord server, access to which is limited to Sounder at Heart Supporter tier members and above. There's a lot of fun stuff already being discussed there and you can get in on the action too by becoming a member.

Episode 424: Things went from bad to unwatchable Aug 23, 2023

Show notes

Coming out of a three-week break in which they presumably worked on tactics, got rejuvenated were hoping to start the stretch run off strong, the Sounders instead turned in one of their worst performances of the season, a 2-0 loss at home to Atlanta United.

The first half was especially bad with the Sounders surrendering 70% of possession and getting run off the pitch at times.

Jeremiah and Aaron discuss where we go from here.

Episode 423: Interview with former Sounders GM Garth Lagerwey Aug 17, 2023

Show notes

Garth Lagerwey spent eight mostly very successful season with the Seattle Sounders. On Sunday, he makes his return as the President and CEO of Atlanta United. As he did regularly when he was with the Sounders, Lagerwey was very gracious with his time when he met with us on Wednesday. We talked about his transition to Atlanta, what he has liked about Leagues Cup and what he thinks of the roster he left the Sounders and Craig Waibel.

Producer's note: Jeremiah had some audio difficulties and as a result doesn't sound so great. We apologize.

Episode 420: Interview with Sounders and USMNT Forward Jordan Morris Jul 27, 2023

Show notes

We had planned to do a "normal" episode this week to talk about the Leagues Cup loss to RSL, but our scheduling got a bit complicated this week. So, rather than listen to Jeremiah and Aaron bemoan one of the worst performances in recent memory, you'll have to suffice with this interview we did with Jordan Morris earlier in the week. Hope you enjoy it.
