    #220 - Holiday Survival Guide, The Grinch's Ethnicity, & Krampus Parades Dec 22, 2025
    Show notes

Happy Holidays & Merry Christmas! We kick off this festive episode by debuting our Christmas sweaters and battling some technical difficulties with a new microphone that may or may not sound like a tin can... you let us know. We discuss the overwhelming stress of the season, the joy of receiving fancy hot chocolate from London, and why Erin refuses to drink eggnog. What even is it? We also get a major update on Dan, who has taken his obsession to a new level by building a luxury habitat for a toad living in the garage, complete with a moss dome, a pool, and a working miniature lamp post.

We then transition into a "Holiday Survival Guide," offering our best tips for enduring awkward parties, which mostly involves "dissociating," holding a phone as a shield, and finding an extrovert to cling to. We debate whether "The Grinch" is a name, a job title, or an ethnicity, and vent our frustrations about Apple TV holding A Charlie Brown Christmas hostage. Finally, we react to the terrifying Austrian tradition of Krampus runs (where people get whipped by demons), listen to a spam voicemail live on the air, and discuss the statistic that 1 in 4 Americans plan their entire Christmas Day around watching sports.

    #219 - Challenged by a Reality Star, $10,000 Card, & Excel Esports Championship Dec 15, 2025
    Show notes

Happy National Regifting Day! We debate whether this holiday is actually placed correctly on the calendar while Mike battles a post Flyers game sickness with some "Immunity Boost" tea. We get a quick update on Dan, who has seemingly cured his post marathon injuries through fasting and is already planning to run Philly again. Mike recaps his very first hockey game experience, he also dives into the high stakes world of sports card collecting.

Things get weird when Erin reveals she has been publicly challenged to a race by Summer House star Craig Conover via Instagram. We discuss the diabolical terms of this "6k" challenge and brainstorm ways to make his travel to Pennsylvania as difficult as possible. We also check in on our favorite "fake" podcaster who is somehow charting on Apple with suspicious numbers and discover the electric world of Microsoft Excel Esports, where spreadsheet experts get intro entrances like pro wrestlers. In sports news, we clarify the misleading headlines about the "trailer park" athlete village for the Winter Olympics. Finally, "Tea Time" covers a controversial Turkey Trot prank that left a new girlfriend in tears , and we end with a wholesome clip of a coach's son dancing in the locker room.

    #218 - The $4,000 Haircut, Selling Marathon Medals, & Men in Women’s Races Dec 08, 2025
    Show notes

We start this episode with a cautionary tale from Erin involving a neighbor's house, a craving for sweets, and a "healthy" brownie, leaving her traumatized for years. We also celebrate Erin’s co writer Amy running her first 5K, which leads to a recurring nightmare scenario: trying to explain exactly what this podcast is to confused strangers.

We then dive into our Thanksgiving recaps, discussing the "Brown Friday" phenomenon that keeps plumbers in business and the dedication of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade dancers who followed the "show must go on" rule despite a massive pile of fresh horse manure in their path. In sports news, we cover the potential bankruptcy of Grand Slam Track, the bizarre black market for marathon medals on eBay, and the controversy surrounding men running in a Nike women's only race. We also discuss a lawsuit claiming Nike Alphaflys caused a runner's stress fracture and question the wisdom of wearing brand new shoes on race day.

Finally, "Tea Time" returns with a wild story about a TikTok famous stylist charging $4,000 for hair she barely touched and a dark update on the "Sticker Gate" scandal. We wrap things up on a high note with a wholesome "No Bad News" story about the brotherhood of New York City doormen and a quick plug for the perfect White Elephant gift: the Pizza Pocket Hoodie (use code "NMONLY" at checkout)

#217 - Surviving the Philly Marathon & Renting an Old Man in Japan Dec 01, 2025
    Show notes

It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, and despite fighting off illness, jet lag, and some major technical difficulties with Riverside, we are here to recount Mike's trip to Japan and Dan's marathon finish.

First we insert a special pre-recorded segment breaking down Dan’s experience running the Philadelphia Marathon. We discuss the VIP bib upgrade that got him into a heated tent. Dan details his unconventional "Dan Method" of training (which we do not recommend), the horrors of the porta potty lines, and the physical toll of the final miles. Dan's experience getting hyped up from friends and strangers. Erin also shares her own embarrassing spectator moment involving a group of girls she thought wanted a selfie with her.

Mike kicks things off with a full recap of his travels, including the surprisingly difficult experience of "renting an old man" named Kenji to help navigate the train system (who ended up getting more lost than they did). He also shares stories about stumbling upon a bar in Tokyo packed with Eagles fans, the life changing magic of Japanese high tech toilets with "privacy sounds," and his visit to a TikTok famous 80 year old knife maker. We also discuss the chaos of Nara Park, where the bowing deer can get a little too aggressive, and the surreal experience of Super Nintendo World.

Finally, we wrap up with a strong recommendation for Vince Gilligan's new show Pluribus on Apple TV and explain why we’re skipping the "No Bad News" segment just this once.

#216 - Naked Football Pants, Squeaky Shoe Lawsuit, & Sticker Gate Drama Nov 24, 2025
    Show notes

Happy National Brand Day and Thanksgiving week! We are recording in person for another pre-recorded episode. We kick things off by sharing exactly what we are thankful for. We also discuss the unexpected joy of a silent school ceremony (and the rage induced when parents decide to talk through it) before asking for your advice on how to survive a surprise birthday party for a friend we haven't seen in years. Ferda returns with a beautifully written review of Arby's new nuggets.

In sports news, we vent a little about other outlets claiming to be the first to interview athletes like "normal people" and breakdown the Steelers' controversial uniforms that make the players look like they aren't wearing pants. We also dive deep into the wild "Sticker Gate" drama unfolding on Threads involving fake hate emails and a small business scandal, and question why research monkeys keep escaping from trucks on the highway. We discuss a class action lawsuit over $180 sneakers that won't stop squeaking, give you the lowdown on a new budget friendly running shoe from Reebok, and marvel at the intense 10 hour mud rubbing process required to prep an NFL football. Finally, we wrap up with a wholesome story about grown men getting excited over lollipops at the barber.

#215 - Selling Courses on Selling Courses, Chipped Footballs, & Robbing the Louvre Nov 17, 2025
    Show notes

With Mike away in Japan, we're coming to you with a special pre-recorded episode that is all over the place. Erin kicks things off by sipping a new Apple Ginger Red Bull from a PR package she's still mysteriously receiving. Mike shares his anxiety about attending his very first HOA meeting. Erin then dives into a rant about the new digital pyramid scheme: people making $80k a month by selling courses that only teach other people how to sell that same course. We also debate why mocktails cost the same as cocktails, provide a major update on the "Fish Hook Man", and recount Erin's existential crisis at CVS after a pharmacist told her the computer "will decide if you're real" and then declared "you don't exist." In our science segment, a study on Olympic athletes proves Erin is an Olympian, which leads to us being grossed out by the fact that we have skeletons and blood inside our bodies. In honor of Mike's trip, he shares amazing facts about Japan, including an airport that hasn't lost a bag in 30 years, vending machines that provide free drinks during earthquakes, the ability to rent an elderly man for $6.58/hour, and the incredible story of a baseball fan who passed a home run ball around the entire stadium before it was politely returned to her. We also investigate why the NFL makes fans return footballs caught in the stands and rant about TikTok's broken algorithm. We end by discussing the "cinematic" old school heist at the Louvre and sharing a heartwarming video of a fisherman celebrating tiny fish just so they don't feel left out.

#214 - NYC Marathon: Chaffing The Dream, Free Pizza, and Rat Piss App Nov 10, 2025
    Show notes

We're in New York City for the marathon weekend, and it was chaotic from the moment we arrived. Our first day involved navigating a disgusting NJ Transit (complete with a bucket of marinara on the floor) and heading straight to the formal Katherine Switzer Awards. We felt incredibly awkward and uncomfortable in our dress clothes, which leads into Erin's clothing nightmare, involving an intimidating J.Crew employee named Judy who yelled at her for picking oversized clothes and shoes that were accidentally mailed to the wrong state. Erin interviews Peloton's Rebecca Kennedy, who surprised her by knowing who she was and shared her most embarrassing story. On marathon day, we braved the subway, complained about the terrible new "rat piss tracking app" , and got a surprise visit from Dan and the kids , who rated NYC a "1 out of 10". We also decided to hand out pizza again, even after discovering another group allegedly stole our idea. Getting four pies to mile 25 was a "war zone" that required us to scale walls and hike through the woods. Our friend "Chick-fil-A Josh" saved us by finding a secret tunnel and a new spot where we ran out of all four boxes in 15 minutes. We finish the night at the finish line cheering on the last runners.

#213 - Steel Mill Ghost, Dorm Room Stranger, and a Cursed Doll Nov 03, 2025
    Show notes

For this special spooky episode, we came dressed for the occasion to share some of our listeners' most terrifying real life stories. We start with our own spooky life updates, including Erin's overstimulating trick-or-treating experience and Mike's preparations for his first Halloween handing out candy. We also revisit our own brushes with the paranormal, from Erin growing up in a haunted house where she'd see the ghost of a young girl , to Mike's high school adventures searching for ghosts from the pages of "Weird New Jersey". Then, we dive into the chilling stories you sent in, and we have to warn you, they might give you nightmares. We read about a college student who woke in the middle of the night to find a stranger sitting on the end of her bed , a harrowing late night drive that was interrupted by a man wielding a sledgehammer, and multiple tales of children seeing things that aren't there—like the ghost of a "lady in white" at a summer camp and a baby reaching for an unseen figure in a closet. We also share the incredibly eerie story of a daughter's strange premonition at the haunted Stanley Hotel that coincided with a friend's unexpected passing , and a dream that led to a cherished text message mysteriously disappearing forever. Even Dan, who is never scared, shares a truly unsettling experience from his days working alone in a claustrophobic steel mill chute where he came face-to-face with something inexplicable. We also explore the haunted history of Camp Randall Stadium , the curse of Billy Penn that haunted Philadelphia sports for 20 years , the real-life story of the Annabelle doll and the paranormal investigator who died suddenly while touring with it , and the modern-day spookiness of a viral AI-generated social media account that looks frighteningly real. Finally, to cleanse the palate, we end with a much needed compilation of adorable dogs in Halloween costumes.

#212 - Horrors of Tuna Jell-O, The Art of Tray Defense, & Parents vs. Technology Oct 27, 2025
    Show notes

Happy Halloween week! We're getting into the spooky spirit with some wild trick-or-treating facts, a recap of Erin's trunk-or-treat experience, and a trip to a nature-themed Halloween event at Hawk Mountain. We also trade stories about our very different childhood trick-or-treating memories. Then, Erin shares what it was like cheering at the Bethlehem Running Festival, where some runners were offered beer and Fireball mid-race. After a quick rant from Mike about why tea should be cheaper than coffee at restaurants, we give you the latest updates on the sports world. We discuss the emergency funding that finally allowed Grand Slam Track to pay its athletes (at least partially) and Fred Kerley's decision to join the Enhanced Games for a big payday and equity in the company.

Things get weird as we discover a new, high-anxiety sport for butlers called "Tray Defense" and unpack the lawsuit claiming Arby's doesn't exactly have "the meats" it shows in its ads. We then take a horrifying journey back in time to explore the bizarre, savory gelatin "salads" of the 1950s—yes, we're talking tuna and olives in Jell-O. We also debate a new discovery of dinosaur footprints, a strange new world record for fist bumps, and share a collection of hilarious stories about parents who are hilariously bad with technology. Of course, it wouldn't be an episode without a Dan update, covering everything from his unconventional marathon training to his latest real-life superhero moment involving a fish hook and some impromptu surgery. We also cover a cool free trade skills program being offered by Home Depot and wrap up with a heartwarming story about a man who thrifts Halloween costumes all year just to give them away to his community for free.

    #211 - Athlos's Success, The AI Sora App, & Fyre Fest's New Owner Oct 20, 2025
    Show notes

Happy World Statistics Day! In this episode, we kick things off with a celebration of stats before sharing how a nor'easter completely washed out some big birthday plans. After a necessary rant about a brutal week for Philadelphia sports, we break down the impressive new women's only track event, Athlos, and its massive, instantly paid prize purse. In other wild business news, find out which nostalgic tech company just bought the Fyre Fest brand and what their bizarre Web3 plans might be. The conversation then gets strange as we explore the shared dream phenomenon of "Mall World" and its endless, creepy public bathrooms, which leads to a PSA about a real life rest stop. We also demystify that scary feeling you get when a plane takes off, explain the controversial new AI video app "Sora," and ponder a new robot chef that might not be as helpful as it seems. Plus, we've got stories on ultrarunner Courtney Dauwalter's marathon debut, the genius invention of Cheeto proof pants, a potential new segment called "Dan Says," and a confirmation of why apple picking is, and always will be, a scam. We wrap the episode on a high note with an amazing story about a five year old sprinter who gets the hero's treatment every day after school.
