In Conversation with Joachim Nordwall (Ideal Recordings, Börft Records) Jun 14, 2023

Show notes

Joachim Nordwall of Ideal Recordings and previously Börft Records joins us today. We discuss growing up and discovering underground industrial and noise in Sweden in the 80s, being a central figure in bringing bands to Sweden, and much more. Joachim has had boots on the ground since he was 13 years old with no end in sight. Ideal celebrates its 25th year this year, so it was a perfect time to get into Joachim’s history.

For the extra-long ExtraNoisextra segment on the patreon, Greh and Joachim go deeper into Börft and some of the artists he worked with early on.

Enter a mysterious realm with the classic Nekrophile Rekords compilation “The Beast 666.” A truly legendary release, we discuss all the details and references with the titles, cover art and more. Assume the entry pose and let the sea of Cefalu wash over your mind’s landscape. “The Beast 666” is one of the great artifacts of the industrial underground.

For the ExtraNoisextra segment on the patreon, we go thru the Nekrophile Rekords book, and especially take a look at the letters between Zoe DeWitt and John Balance.

Thirdorgan – Jinzoningen May 31, 2023

Show notes

With the full NWN/Hospital Japan Fest line up announced, we go all in on Thirdorgan, the cyborg of night two. “Jinzoningen” is Thirdorgan’s 1998 LP on Harbinger Sound. We answer the questions posed in the track titles. We prepare for the dystopian future where Hakaider and Loch Ness Monster will lead us to new lands. Thirdorgan is the harshest of them all, and this LP showcases exactly why. Do you believe?

For the ExtraNoisextra on the patreon, Mike discusses touring with Steve Underwood, the man behind Harbinger Sound. In addition, Tara talks about Steve almost taking out her eye with a 7” spindle.

Dave Gilden discussion with Jim Haras Apr 19, 2023

Show notes

Jim Haras (Deterge) is releasing a massive Dave Gilden box set on his Fusty Cunt label. Jim was in town, so he came over to the Connelly household to have a talk about Gilden and the process of putting the box set together. Dave Gilden’s work was once of the least attainable, but there’s been a vast unearthing of his material in the past few years, and Jim’s box set will be a huge look at Gilden’s discography. In addition, we get into Jim’s noise history.

For the ExtraNoisextra segment on the patreon, Greh talks about his favorite Gilden recordings as he was unable to be there for the interview.

To reserve a copy of the cassette version of the Dave Gilden box, email jimharas@yahoo.com, but hurry! Supplies are very limited.

MB – Aktivitat Apr 12, 2023

Show notes

We remain in the zone for stone cold classics, and it felt like a fitting time to revisit some MB. “Aktivitat” was Greh’s first MB album, and it sounds as hypnotically destroyed as ever. The past remains alive in the atmosphere of the forever work of Maruzio Bianchi.

For the ExtraNoisextra segment in the patreon, we discuss a just released modern classic as well as some other choice listening.
