P. Children – PCH 4 Sep 15, 2021

Show notes

P. Children provide a fantastic 10″ for us to dissect this week. They are a very unique project that takes its academic background and filters it through the early 90s world of RRR and SSS. Bang on an oxygen tank and slide your fingers along piano strings. Penderecki’s Children indeed.

Note: due to some recording issues, the Connellys’ sound is less that optimal.

Yen Pox “Blood Music” Sep 08, 2021

Show notes

Crimson and viscous, Yen Pox “Blood Music” flows into our veins. This 1995 album is an absolute classic in the world of dark ambient, and the twilight territory it places us in is intoxicating. Blot out the sun and cover the world in “Blood Music.”

Prick Decay – Mud Sound for Car Stereos (with guest Anthony Saunders) Sep 01, 2021

Show notes

We return to the Pure series to cover Prick Decay’s “Mud Sound for Car Stereos” as recommended by guest Anthony Saunders. Fitting perfectly in the realm of mid ’90s RRR sound, we all wallow in the tape hiss and crudeness provided Prick Decay. In addition, Dylan Nyoukis provided some background info on this CD. How will your milk taste?

Shane English (Corporate Park, K & S, L.I.E.S. Records) brought a very obscure 80s French industrial cassette to us with La Sonorite Jaune “Heliae” on their own SJ Organisation label. Shane has communicated with Pascal of LSJ and relays some background info on “Heliae.” We were all excited to be introduced to this tape and project thanks to Shane’s deep knowledge of 80’s Euro cassette culture.

Enter a place of mystery with Grim’s “Folk Music” album from 1986. There’s really no other album like it, and we get wrapped up in its blend of austerity, violence, and pure vision. We go from places of worship to rooms filled with oil drums to the Alps and many more places in between. Throw out all expectations and embrace the world of Grim.
