Ben and Neil discuss Doak's course at Streamsong Blue. Opened in 2012, the Blue course sits on the same side of the property as Coore and Crenshaw's Red course. In fact, Tom Doak and Bill Coore collaborated during the initial 36 hole routing. Both courses sit on a former strip-mining operation that features massive mounds, lagoons, swaps and bare sand. Blue is known for its dramatic start, with the first tee atop a large sand dune. It is also known for its large, bold green complexes. Please also check out Crash Course video series over on our YouTube channel for a video of our day around the course. Enjoy!

    Show notes

DJ & Soly discuss Seth Raynor's 1919 Shoreacres. Shoreacres sits on the north shore of Chicago. It could be the most original Reynor designed course left in America thanks in large part to a 1993 restoration project by Tom Doak and the Renaissance Design team. It is very much a private club that if you get the opportunity to go play it, drop everything and go. Enjoy!

    Episode 42: Cullen Sep 16, 2021
    Show notes

Cullen is located in Moray, on the Moray Firth, an old fishing village that is as quaint and picturesque as an old Scottish fishing village connotes. Cullen is the type of course where nearly six months later I can remember damn near every hole and every shot I hit that day. It’s a course I think about often, replaying again and again in mind. It captured our group’s imagination, and as such, I couldn’t recommend any more highly making the hour and twenty minute drive from Cruden Bay up to Cullen for a spin (or two) around the links. Enjoy!

    Show notes

Designed by Old Tom Morris and opened in 1899, Cruden Bay was redesigned to the current layout by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler in 1926. The golf course offers an internationally famous golfing experience, old-fashioned links golf at its best. Enjoy!

    Episode 40: Elie Sep 10, 2021
    Show notes

It is believed that golf has been played on the links of Elie in the East Neuk of Fife since the 16th century. Most historians attribute the design of the current layout to Old Tom Morris in 1895. James Braid, the legendary 5 time Champion Golfer of The Year, and golf course Architect, was born in the adjacent village of Earlsferry in 1870. He won his first tournament at age 8 on the links at Elie. Enjoy!
